Tonight proved to be an interesting night. We had our scout meeting at the North Shore Fire Department - Engine 4 and were working towards our Readyman badge that included basic first aid and the Heimlich. (Thanks guys you did a great job!!!!)
The scouting motto is "be prepared" and let me tell you - I was - thanks to Fox 6. We arrived at 6:30 and got started over at the Paramedic Rig. Seconds into the presentation, the bells started ringing and they were off on their first call! Left standing with 12 boys, most people would have been Oh, NO! But NOT me! NOPE, I directed everyone into the living room and set up camp with my Fox6 Mini Ann doll and video! You may have remembered my blog from this past September, but if you don't, or didn't blog back then - you can check it out here.
By the time we ran through the video, and each boy got a turn with Mini Ann and then we all practiced the Heimlich, after watching the video. My proudest moment was when my son got down and demonstrated, on his own, how to use the mini annie and perform basic CPR.
By the time we finished, the Fire Engine came back and we were able to advance to basic first aid - just as we finished another call came in and we were left standing all by ourselves again! What an exciting way to end the evening.
On thing I have to tell you, with boys they get all goofy when their attention isn't held and the mini Ann and video did the job. So thanks to Fox 6 for that opportunity at Miller Park last September, I couldn't have gotten through this without you!

I guess their is only one survivor left from the Titanic now. You can read about Barbara West Dainton here. She passed away last week.
The movie Titanic got me fascinated with the boat, its history and its demise. Did you know there are three people burried here in Milwaukee at Graceland Cemetary. Edward G. Crosby did not survive, his wife and daughter did. All are burried at Graceland. We found them placing flags on Vetrans grave stones one year. You can find them here.
Here is the link to other Titanic grave locations. The links are to Findagrave.com. It is an interesting website, you should check it out. I have been able to find gravestones of family members on my dad's side.

So I said I would coach 5th and 6th Grade Basketball this winter. What can I say, they were desperate. ..... I haven't coached since High School and due to physical limitations, I can not longer play.
We have 1/2 hour of practice, then a game ever week. I found some drills searching the internet I remember doing - but any one else have some good tips??

Remember the I won't raise taxes Governor Doyle, well I also recall him doing some "research" into these gas prices - anyone, anyone remember that? Remember the outrage from our old Attorney General?? WHAT ever happened to that?
Maybe it got hidden under the spare tire?
