I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this "The City of Beachwood has canceled Little League All-Star games for kids ages 9-12 to help boost self esteem of players". Do you agree with the decision to cancel the Little League All-Star games.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this was very stupid. They propose to build self esteem by rewarding players (that are talented and have worked hard) with the same thing that they give the less talented players. Nothing. I guess the less talented players esteem is in tact, but what of the hard working more talented player? Sports is about competition. That's how you get better. I believe this type of interference will hurt the kids more then help them. After all why try?

wow water, imagine that, something else we agree on.

this just stinks..........all they are teaching these kids is that if you don't work hard to succeed, someone will "level the playing field" for you.

what a bunch of baloney this is..i encountered some people like this when i was coaching. most of the kids who aren't "the top" also aren't motivated either. alot of the kids i came across that weren't the "cream of the crop" also had unmotivated parents. ball practice & games were convenient babysitters for them.

Political Correctness gone haywire!
And parents nowadays wonder why their grown children can't handle rejection, adversity, loss, etc. IT'S LIFE, FOLKS!! Deal with it. Crap happens!

This is garbage. Pure garbage. Does anyone out there (even Socialists) not realize that America became a great nation BECAUSE of competition and the drive to succeed, not in spite of it? How ridiculous NOT to award those kids who have excelled by letting them play in a friendly all-star game. If the "other" kids can't handle not making the all-star team, how the hell will they handle their first job rejection?! Life isn't fair, people!! All the "progressive" policies in the world won't change that either!

WOW, Someone really screwed this one up !!
How can they possibly even comprehend something like this and be taken serious!!!
IT ABSOLUTLY BUILDS SELF ESTEEM !! Thats why some of the kids put there heart and souls into the sport !! Yes, You have some kids that don't even want to be there, and we should punish the ones that do, GIVE ME A BREAK, It is the most REDICULOUS thing I have ever heard !! Maybe we should not have strike outs either because the poor kids that strike out will have THE LOW SELF ESTEEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!

And people wonder why our youth is as bad as they are today. Too much coddling and babying, not enough teaching to stand up and take life by the horns! Gimme a break!

I think this is the Greatest Thing to do since white bread! We have to teach all of these kids how us Adults want the world to be, don't we? The losers learn that we all are winners even if we don't try hard. They can learn from us that you're word or a contract can be signed and if you don't want to Honor it, blame someone who does the right thing. We can teach them that Losers and Unmotivated types get ahead if they scream and demand fairness, even if it proves to be unfair to the others. This is what "ALL" of us want for our kids, RIGHT? We can sit and type on our computers till hell freezes over. We will not get together in Mass and go to the City Halls and tell all of the Freaks running things, those WE elected and Keep Electing, "WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE". Are you ready? I am.

hmmmmm better GREAT IDEA!...........it's probably NOT too costly & the teams would have to pony up some dough just to be IN the tournament......

wonder if the coaches of this league have thought about contacting other leagues to see about joining their tournaments?

anybody know one of the coaches? if so, post the info or something. this i know ALOT about & i can help........
