In my previous blog (middle school birth control, another side). Parenting was the number on issue. So let's hear from some of  the success stories. I would love to hear from those parents who have successfully raised Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Entrepenuers, CEOs, and other success stories. I feel that this would be a good start to solving some problems . Many parents don't know how to be good parents. Now a days we have kids having kids. So how does a kid raise a kid? where do they get there knowledge on how to raise a kid?I know when I was 25, my first child was born and I was clueless, and overwhelmed. So please share your success. Thank you.

Well I've been waiting for a response to this post but I see there still isn't any. Personally I think success is in the eye of the beholder. I have two daughters and three step children (two girls and a boy). Ages 17 - 25. The three older ones (all girls) are successful in my opinion. The oldest one is a home owner, works, pays her bills etc. She has a 1 1/2 year old son which she takes very good care of. Even though I'm old school and wishes she'd marry the father. Which she really doesn't want to be married. But they both work and take care of there business. Daughter #2 works has no children, goes to college and also takes care of her business. Daughter #3 works at a nursing home, and also takes care of her business. All three have pride in there accomplishments and themselves. Unfortunately son #1, and daughter #5 are a different story. Both do nothing to improve themselves and constantly cry poor me, and blame everything and everyone for there prediciments in life. I still hold out with hope for the two of them but unless they change there ways and thoughts they will not learn what it means to be self sufficient or the pride of self accomplishment. Which is sad for them.

I don't think successfully parenting is necessarily raising Doctors and lawyers, but rasing decent, hardworking members of society. Although raising a doctor or lawyer doesn't hurt.

Neither me nor any of my sisters and finished college yet, my oldest sister being 23, She is in college and working to become a librarian (which is disturbingly hard). My other sister who just turned 20 is in college working on becoming a paralegal (not unnecessarily a lawyer though), An I at 18 am still in High School but if all goes as planned I will go to college for mortuary science. I would say that our parents did well to raise us. When we were little people would compliment them when we went out to eat because we all behaved when others didn't. So all in all I'd say my parents did a good job.

Good thing I had the TV on, I just saw a tv ad showing a Paris Hilton like character. I realized that is a perfect example of point I made at the beginning of my responses. Look at Paris and you know she is rich, wealthy, and loaded before you factor in her inheritance. Is she a good, productive member of society? no, not with a DUI anyway.

Not everyone is a lawyer or a doctor but still make a good living. My son went to JVS for plumbing since we knew that we could never afford college. He is now 19 has a full time job at Cleveland State and owns his own home. My daughter is 19 and pharmacy technician at CVS. Makes good money and pays her rent. They are decent hard working young people with values and respect for others. I couldn't be more proud. At my house we value hard work and responsibility.

My daughter is a Spanish translator for Human Resources and on call for the police and courts in T-County. She also does several missions to Mexico every year. I would like to see her get more education, as any dad should, but she is doing good.

I am 40 yrs old and my daughter will soon be 23. (do the math, yep, I was one of those "kids raising kids")
I have always been a huge part of my daughter's life. She isn't afraid to talk to me about things, but she knows, I'm her MOTHER, not her FRIEND.
Like I said, she is almost 23 yrs old. She works in a nursing home and is a firefighter. She truly cares about those less fortunate. I could go on and on about her attributes, but then again, I am her mom. LOL
I think as a parent, you can't be afraid to tell your kids no.
