I agree twistedsister! There has been abuse in his home since he was real little. They interviewed his neighbor, and she said many, many times that she heard the mother beating him and his brother, yelling and screaming, etc. She also said she was not surprised to hear what he had done, or how he turned out to be. Child services has been called to that house many, many times. On top of that, he had to deal with being bullied in school. I don't condone what he's done, but given his upbringing, his obviously very disturbed mother, it's reall not surprising. I do feel in a way he was crying out for help. Given the way his mother is, I now understand why she never helped him. She was part of the problem! I just wish someone in school, or just someone who saw he wasn't right, went to an authority figure of some sort, to get him some help. This is truly a time when someone who knew what he was like, should of gotten involved, and maybe this could of been prevented!!!!

This whole thing is tragic. But I know from personal experiences that the school will not get involved. They are afraid of being sued. Unless there are visible marks. The police also will not get involved either. Like I said in another blog comment no one bothers with this stuff. That mother in my opinion should be jailed but that won't happen either. It is truly up to the parents and if a child doesn't have that they are really doomed.

What is wrong with the system???? They were there on drug calls and dealing why are they not in jail and the house seized and boarded up???? I think the cops must have been going there to get their stash and blamed the little boy eh...Also the other kid hit this boy first in the fight why was only one kid suspened????

Great, great blog, twistedsister! You bought up some excellent points. Yes, why was HE the only one suspended? His mother was a real piece of work. On the news, she just yelled at the reporter to get the hell off her porch! Sorry, to me she sure didn't seem like she was grieving! More or less hiding!! Shame on her!! No one ever mentioned a father, or who he was. Probably took off a long time ago. Didn't give that mother the right to abuse her children constantly!!

I am going to give some facts that where printed in the news-herald Sept.9th 2007.It is on Scioto Juvenile Correctional Faccility in Delaware and Marion counties in Ohio.Ohio tax payers spend nearly 80,000 a year for each youth sent to juvinile prison, thats 3 times the costs for adult inmates. The juvinile systems budget was nearly 260 million last year, including parole and community corrections programs and money that goes to the county juvnile courts. On a typical day the states juvinile prisons house about 1,800 young people.
The goal is to treat, teach and reform them so they do not relapse and ruin lives. But half of the youths who leave Ohio,s juvinile prisons return within 3 years.By comparison the 3 year recidivism rate for adults is 38 percent.
An investigation of the states juvinile prison,s found that promised treatment is minimal at best.Consider This.......
Reported assults among inmates and between inmates and guards doubled last year, to 2,520 from 1,305 in 2005, The violence is fueled in part by a thriving gang population and not enough guards, prison employees say.

Prison employees have disciplined some violent youths by locking them in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day for weeks_ sometimes for months. The national standard is no more than five days: experts say that more than that can psychologically damage young people.

Bereaucractic foul-ups and a lack of therapy programs have forced some youths to stay longer in prison, adding to the taxpayers tab.
Some leave without getting the therapy that courts have ordered them to complete.

As many as one-quarter of youths in in the Scioto Juvinile Correctional Facility in Delaware County were skipping school last fall. And screening for learning disabilities at the prisons in Delaware and Marion counties is so shoddy that problems are rountinely overlooked, federal investergators found. It is difficult to determine the scope of problems in the juvinile prisons because the system,s records are sketchy.Lawyers with the Children,s Law Center a nonprofit group based in kentucky say conditions in Ohio,s eight juvenile prisons is so poor that they have filed three class-action lawsuits in the past three years against the Department of Youth Services. We keep hearing of children in crisis and keep seeing that what we really have is an emergency situation that is being dealt with on a slow track.HMMMMMMM

Another big factor is if parents and the school systems dont start teaching kids to respect others who are different, this will never stop. Someone picked on till they hit their breaking point doesnt have to do it in the school...they can wait and do it outside...it doesnt matter to someone who has been rediculed, humiliated, violated, picked on, and beat up.
Being different, or unique, is too scary for all the clones that want to wear their pants down to their knees, and shave their ignorant little heads and all wear white, or black t shirts....artists are unique, and different, geeks like the microsoft giant...
that poor kid was the victim....

Again I say: How can you expect a parent to teach these children to respect other when they are just as guilty. Have you read these blogs? It's full of disrespect and name calling, and these folks consider themselves to be adults!

First they have to find her.

Heres the answer of why:
Because to adults anything a child says would and could be a lie. How many times you ask your child if they hit there bother or sister if one said no and other said yes who you going believe? the child was in trouble at his home and in school. and since talking it out is no longer being taught and fists don't bring exact fear to anyone...you having a school shooting.
before all of this happened would you think your child is telling the truth? probaby not.

a trouble child to a school can't be trusted...and thats what everyone believes.

It's not only the troubled child that's not believed. There was practically a straight A student, no problems, never allowed to partake in school activities, just had to run home. Home abuse was never believed by teachers, counselors, or child services. They themselves were blamed for not partaking by the very teachers that should have looked at the situation instead of taking the easy way out: blame the victim some more. The major problem: NO ONE CARES!! Just don't jeopardize my job, my life! What happens to you is your problem. This is the way society gets through life today. Leave me alone. At least until you do something so wrong, then I have no choice but to look at you, until then, who cares? If you don't come to school with a black eye or broken nose, apparently abuse is not taking place or at least one could get away with saying, I didn't know, can't blame me.
Why is so much abuse, neglect, and mental illness getting through the cracks, if this isn't true?

For some children whose home life is horrible...school is break for them from that...
But unfortunately not for this kid.....the abuse continued in the school...he wasnt a bad kid ...he did not cut school to escape it...
Because he dressed differently from some of the bullies in the school ...he was targeted ...
Shame on those kids, teachers, school system that did not try to help him....
They will have to live with the guilt....and shame.....
