I have a 2001 Ford Explorer and I love it, but I had a recall that had to be fixed,, now some of you might have heard about this one,, it is where the car could go up in flames even if not running or any thing,, so I finally took it to get the recall fixed,, what I joke,, the fix was to unplug/disconnect my cruise control, tape the part with some electrical tape and send me on my way!!  I ask the guy at the dealership, where I took it to get it FIXED by a genuine ford repair person,, what kind of fix is this,, he said thats all we can do for you,, the part to fix it is not available, and is not being made any more,,so this is all we can do to keep you car from burning up,  And he laughed and walked back into his office, to file the paper work that my recall had been FIXED!! and now ford is no longer liable, and now I have no cruise control on my car which of course you pay alot extra just to have, and I drive 50 miles one way to work everyday, and used that cruise control everyday,, I think ford sucks for this, and I don't know anywhere to write to them to complain, well I know one thing if I get a speeding ticket, because I don't have my cruise control,, I think I will send it to the FORD company to pay! Everyone should BEWARE OF FORD AND THEIR RECALL  "FIXES"!!!!!

Here's a hint...the next time there's a recall,
don't wait.

You can't control your speed without using the
cruise control?

Here's another hint...don't speed!

You probably also put your makeup on while you
drive.

FROM EDMUNDS

"AS SOON AS REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE (EXPECTED OCTOBER 2007), OWNERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN TO THE DEALERS FOR INSTALLATION OF A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON AUGUST 13, 2007, AND MAILING COMPLETED BY SEPTEMBER 19, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673."

They probably don't have the part yet-you may have went to a crappy dealership but maybe try another or calling ford. Disconnecting it would be a temp fix until the part comes in. Otherwise hook it back up and risk the fire until then.
