There is one thing that really makes me scratch my head. That thing is why can't we have term limits for the congress? If the President is limited to two four year terms, why can't Congress do something useful as to come up with a constitutional amendment that would limit represenatives to six two year terms and senators to two six year terms?
At least there would always be new people in the Congress and it would be more of a represenative government rather than a stale body like we have now. Also, with more turnover, there would be fresh ideas in how to solve problems rather than the same old tax and spend or cut taxes and spend into debt so they can rationalize raising our taxes and spend even more money and increase more debt.
I know there are people that keep re-electing the same old people so that they can bring home more money to the state. However, when the person has to have every new thing named after him (like Senator Byrd-and West Virginia) that does go too far.
Why do we need to have people in Washington D.C., stay in congress for 20, 30, 40 or more years until they have to be carried out on a stretcher instead of leaving after 12 years of service for their country?
By limiting how long a person can serve in congress will go a long way in changing how things can be done in Washington D.C. I would rather have fresh faces in Washington rather than the same old faces that never fade into the sunset...we just see their recycled ads and their recycled yard signs every time they are up for re-election.
Tired of political ads

We still have less than two months before the general election and I'm tired already of all the political ads...especially the Jeanne Shaheen ads, and the Obama ads, and the 527 group ads, and you see a pattern. Unfortunatly, it will get worse as the election gets closer and all of the signs in yards and more ads on the radio. At this point, I would rather see more ads for the Bruins and the Celtics upcoming seasons, and almost anything else than political ads.
Shaheen-Sununu Part 2.

Well, here we go again. The former governor of New Hamphire wants to be Senator again. We are starting to see the Shaheen for Senate ads on tv...and my big question is why go after the young John Sununu again? If Jeanne Shaheen really wants to be Senator, then why didn't she run against Judd Gregg when he was up for re-election? The first time was bad enough...and I didn't vote for her then and I won't vote for her now. You think that we could trade Jeanne Shaheen to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Mitt Romney?
Are unions necessary today?

A couple of days ago I got the proposed changes in my section at work. On my tour, they are eliminating four expeditor positions and reposting my job...but since I'm one of the junior expeditors, I will end up as an unassigned regular. So in the postal facility that I work, I will become a management whipping boy sort of speak. They can and probably will move me around like a casual or a flexable employee. Other than money raising machines for political campaigns, what good are unions in today's economy. I really don't see much that unions do in the actual protecting jobs or improving working conditions...but just as money raising machines to keep the ineffective politicians in office. Ironically as these changes will happen, we are going up a level in pay but the union will extract their share too...just like a government entity will grab a portion of the raise too. So if unions are generally ineffective in improving working conditions and protecting jobs, then what good are they in today's world?
Lack of choices

Well, with the suspension of the Mitt Romney campaign, what is a conservative to do? One by one the conservatives left the race, so we left with basically former Governor Huckabee who we really don't know where he stands and Senator McCain who has gone against the conservative base of the Republican party. On the other side of the isle, there is nothing except the same liberal principles that ruled the land for 40 years, and want to do another long period of rule. So all we will have in the next president in reality is Washington insiders that people will get. And one of the canidates says he is for change...well, how can you claim change when you are part of the problem? In our present president, he claimed that he wanted change...however we ended up with the do nothing congress the last year and there are signs that it won't change in the near future. So what we will have is either Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, or Senator McCain as our new president....all Washington insiders. If we as Americans are smart, we would elect all new people to go to Washington, instead of keeping the long list of the incumbants that are the big problem in Washington.
The do nothing Congress

The 111th Congress will go down in history as the do-nothing Congress. The latest thing that has nothing to do with the major problems of the nation is Senator Spector's inquiry about the "Spygate" tapes. With the problems of the war against terror, the economy, and other pressing issies, Senator Spector decides that destroying of tapes is more important than anything else. I guess when you hang around Senator Reid and his buddies too long, you really don't feel obligated to work for the people that elected you to office. Also, Congress should really leave the steroid in sports alone since they couldn't care less until its an election year anyhow. Why should we expect the career politicians to do anything for the people since there is the McCain-Feingold incumbant protection legislation that keeps them in office anyhow.
