As the Indians have moved to the basement of the AL Central and for all intensive purposes done for the season, they are finally doing something off the field.

The first player to be purged was Joe Borowski on Friday which I don't understand why they got him in the first place.  Now, the winner of the CC Sabathia sweepstakes is...the Milwaukee Brewers for three minor leaguers at least one being on outfielder.  One of my questions to Mark Shapario is why make the deal now instead of next week when maybe you could get a pitcher that could help for the rest of the season?  My other question is why another outfielder when you have Francisco, Gutierrez, Sizemore, Choo, and Dellucci who should be shown the door too.

So, curious minds want to know is who's next?  I have some ideas of who should be purged.  Let's see now...the ones that should go is Andy Marte who should of been charged an error that helped contributed to the latest loss, Jhonny Peralta who has not hit for average this year and really not a good shortstop,  Rafael Bettencourt and Paul Byrd who have been awful this year and David Dellucci who really haven't contributed much anyway.

One other thought...what if Mark Shapario would of signed Tim Lincecum a few years ago instead of watching him become an All-Star for the Giants?  Or better yet, why has he picked up non-contributers like David Dellucci, Andy Marte instead of pitching help?

Cause Shapiro is as clueless as Wedge is, they both have run this team into the ground.

I believe the Indians gave up the season weeks ago. Shapiro was a bad choice years ago when John Hart left. Manager Eric Wedge is incompetent. I am so glad that football season isn't too far off, at least we know the Browns won't give up. This season could be salvaged if the owner would just spend money. There is still plenty left to play if only we got some positional players and a little more pop in our bats. It all starts at the top with ownership. We need an owner that will spend the money to bring good players here. The player that should go is Hafner, the money we spent on him wasn't worth it..HE STINKS...

I really don't know what's wrong with Hafner...a player like that shouldn't of fallen off that dramatic. Yes, I do have problems with Eric Wedge...like sticking with players that should be on the bench and not playing others that need to play in order to improve.
Last off season the Indians should of done something more than Jamie Carroll and Masahide Kobayashi. Also, the players that we got for CC Sabathia won't help for at least two years if even then. And that falls on the head of Mark Shapiro.
The owner could spend a little more money as well, but some owners around baseball would get rid of good players to stock their minor league teams and be in a constant state of rebuilding. Major League Baseball should have a minimum amount for what a team should have on players. At least you won't have the yearly raiding the poor teams by the rich teams.

I was born and raised in Ohio and graduated from Ashland High School. I'm a big Cleveland sports fan as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets. I keep up with the Indians and the Cavs on WTAM. I also love reading online newspapers as that is the main way I keep up with what is going on in Ohio. I am a conservative that relies on websites like the Ashbrook Center and talk radio to get most of my news of the day. I live in Derry, NH; and work at a postal facility in Nashua, NH. I go to Manchester, Providence, Pawtucket, and Portland, Maine; to watch minor league baseball and hockey to relax and to see the future major league baseball or hockey players.
