Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  How time flies when you're getting older.  I was in elementary school on that April day, but over the years I have done some reading on Dr. King and some of the things he was saying back then has come to pass.  However, there are more that we could do to finish the job.  I can see a black President some day...however is Obama the one based on his credentials or will he get elected because he is black?  There are more qualified people like J.C. Watts, Alan Keyes, or even Colin Powell that are more qualified than Sen. Obama is.

I just wonder if we can ever get to the point where we can look at a person and not see skin color or whether they are male or female and just see them as a person that can do the task in hand?

Dr. King was and still is a very influential icon in our country and we were lucky to have him in our lives and blessed to have his legacy live on.
As far as Barack Obama being president, well I think people should vote for Barack based on how they feel, what they have learned from him or the ideal that you have in common with him. Or vote for the candidate that you value the most the one you put your trust in. As far as people voting for Barack because he is black, that may not be the case a lot of people will NOT vote for Barack because he is black. (However Barack is not truly black anyway).

I was born and raised in Ohio and graduated from Ashland High School. I'm a big Cleveland sports fan as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets. I keep up with the Indians and the Cavs on WTAM. I also love reading online newspapers as that is the main way I keep up with what is going on in Ohio. I am a conservative that relies on websites like the Ashbrook Center and talk radio to get most of my news of the day. I live in Derry, NH; and work at a postal facility in Nashua, NH. I go to Manchester, Providence, Pawtucket, and Portland, Maine; to watch minor league baseball and hockey to relax and to see the future major league baseball or hockey players.
