I will argue the 401K point with you. Our 401K's have virtually TANKED in the last 8 years!!! They were doing great in the Clinton years. Now, I'm afraid to look at my statement when it comes in the mail. Needless to say, we're not going to be able to retire any time soon...

Tonight, like most debates could accurately be ruled a draw, with both sides claiming victory but no real standard by which to measure winning or losing….neither candidate had a big gaffe or a one liner that stunned their opponent, there was no big “soundbite” clip produced by this debate like there have been in previous debates, but which does not occur too often.

A draw favors Obama though, because foreign policy is definitely McCain’s strong point & Obama’s perceived weakness but this debate did illuminate the fundamental differences in the mindset of the candidates, so open minded people can watch and decide who they agree with more.

CNN's poll has all Obama winning overall, on the economy and on Iraq:

McCain 47%

I watch Fox not CNN and their poll said 84% McCain won and 15% 1% undecided. So I guess it is which station you watch. I think they both did well but reality is if the govenment adds one more thing that cost money and they raise taxes on business McCain is right, kiss you job good bye because they will leave.

Well then, you are truly an EXCEPTION, but not the RULE. For the most part, things have been WORSE under Bush. Things are continuing to get worse. More Republicans are not the answer.

I did think there was a win for Obama. We got to see how McCain behaves. Not good. McCain was a cocky, arrogant BLEEP. When Obama was speaking, McCain is off to the side with that smug little grin on his face. And I cannot stand the way McCain commented that "Obama doesn't understand that" or "He doesn't get it" and then Obama answers with an excellent answer. It just makes McCain look even more childish and wrong. Personally I think this debate was useless. Why the hell are we debating foreign policy while there is an economic crisis? THAT would have been a good topic to make the candidates think on their feet. THAT would hurt McCain, since he has nothing to say on the subject of the economy. McCain is a part of the group that caused this problem, so it would be ironic to watch him talk about solutions.” - polarbear_88

Of course you wouldn’t enjoy McCain’s reactions, he was confident as well he should’ve been…foreign policy & experience are his strong suits, while Obama is good at memorizing lines & reading from a teleprompter…McCain draws from his vast array of life experiences and his extensive time in both the House & the Senate, and all Obama is left with is his own disproved belief that his judgment is so good which is why it was so easy for McCain to keep him on the defensive for most of the evening.

Girlscout I believe you about losing money on your 401k some of the guys at work have also lost money and I'm not going to say what I'm about to say out of disrespect because I respect you alot, most people don't watch their 401k that is the fact at my shop, we can change where our money goes and we can do it on line I haven't changed mine because I have been making money. my 401k is in agressive accounts.
I don't know if you can change were your money goes but if you can you should do it before you lose more.

superbrowns - We watch our 401K's very closely. We can pick and choose whatever we want to invest in and can change it at any time. We do so according to the market fluctuations and have always made decisions that benefited us. But in the past 8 years, nothing we do has stopped the downslide of loss.
I want to know what YOU are choosing! LOL!

dprin - Well, just like the republicans always say that the liberal media (NBC, ABC, etc) are biased towards Obama, I will say that conservative FOX is biased towards McCain!
He won by 84%?? Now that's unbelievable as I thought it was a pretty close match.
