I went to the store the other day and I overheard a young lady speaking about Obama's choice for V P she was saying how he was a great choice because of his policies, she said he was great on foreign affairs and could help out our economy, she went on and on how he would be good for us.

she also said something about McCain that there is some old guy that is 75 and a P O W .

I didn't have a chance to correct her on his age or that he isn't a P O W anymore.

But what really got my attention is the comment she made about Obama " He has the face to lead this country" and that was all she said about him except that if we didn't vote for him it was because we were racist, why is it that the only reason they say we won't vote for him has to do with  race.

I'm sure there are some that are like that still, I also believe it is a two way street, there are some that will vote for Obama just because he looks black I'm submitting a new line on the list for what are you "Blacasian" he is neither Black or White and I have my own reasons why I will not vote for Obama and they have nothing to do with race and all of you already know what that is.

Maybe I'm  out of touch with the youth of today but what does that mean "he has the face to lead this Country", it does take more than just a face you have to know what you are doing, it sounds to me she has more faith in the VP then the President, does she get the role of the VP.

I'm not sure how Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin are going to be but one thing is certain The next President will be McCain or Obama, and Biden or Palin will be riding shot gun.

Now for one more issue I feel if both Obama and McCain are running and both are saying they are going to CHANGE Washington then they should start by offering a Cabnet position to each other. just my opinion.

As a 19 year old, I'd have to say that not one of my friends has a good reason to vote for Obama. But they all are going to anyway.
It's ignorance. Younger adults and teens (who can vote) have barely any education on the issues themselves, let alone where candidates stand. If you asked that girl what Obama's "great policy" on his foreign affairs is, she'd have no clue.

All my peers either:
1. Don't care and are unregistered voters
2. Support Obama to the fullest, but don't know anything about him
3. Support Obama, and are't registered to vote.

Not only do they know nothing (really) about Obama, they know nothing about McCain.

That's because it is easier for a young person to relate to a younger candidate, than an old man. It's not right...it's just reality.

A youngster for Obama came to our house this weekend. He had the talking points, but didn’t really know much about his candidate. When asked to name two or three changes that Obama would make that would make my life better, he answered “bring our troops home from Iraq and give you a tax cut.”

I asked, “How will surrendering in a major war effort actually help me?” He thought the question over and said, “Well this isn’t really America’s war, it is Bush’s war.”

(Oye, youth). I commented that when Bill Clinton ran for president, he promised tax cuts too. Then after he was elected, he said that he worked hard on giving tax cuts to the American people, but could not because former President Bush lied. Instead Clinton raised taxes. Wouldn’t you agree that this is what we will see from a President Obama?

The youth thought this over and then with a grin said, “No, he won’t do that.” I asked “If he did raise taxes after the election, would it change your view of Obama?” Again he thought, and then said, “Well, no, as President he would know and do what was right for the nation.” I asked if that applied even if President wanted to take us to war.” That really bothered the young man. “If that is what he has to do, but he won’t.”

That is what I would call blind trust in a candidate.

I feel sorry for that person, that they are making a decision without the information. I'm sure though that there are plenty of people, young and old alike that are making a decision without information.

Many young people who are old enough to vote, the development of their brain has not been completed, that is why they still have that pied piper mentality in following a leader, and not questioning where he is leading them.

Those are the same young type of people who followed Charles Manson, or a number of those religious cults

Katie eventually your friends will mature, as you have, and no matter if they are a Dem or a GOP, they will at least have a more informed reasons for voting in the future. Hopefully.

I hope these young people will realize that
Obama attended a muslim school from age 10
and the muslim school teaches kids from 3 yrs
up that anyone who is not muslim should be
killed. I don't want a muslim lawyer running
our country. Weakening our armies and doubling
our taxes. No No No

Maybe we can encourage them to do some research.Facts might help them. I feel some young people are gullable.

You make a good point stylegal, this can said for more than politics or cults, people follow religion and other personal ideals from the way they were taught by a leader. People follow Christianity and become regular everyday people or they can become fundamentalist will to stone somebody because they are gay. People follow Islam and they become peaceful everyday people or they become radical terrorists. All because somebody lead them that way.

GeminiOne, that’s a strong statement, Care to back it up with a line from the Koran that backs up what your Statement? All religions have radicals even Christians if you Read the history. However, I know for a fact Real Muslim religion does not teach or condone any killing. Radical religious NUTS do and all religions have those. Share the link with us to read online where the Muslim Koran States such things as you claim. The Koran is basically very similar to the Old Testament.

Gangster the bible and the Koran say you must rid the world of evil, I don't believe it is saying we should kill evil people but one could be lead to believe that is what it means.
Just like the bible and the many different religions the same is said about the Koran, I started reading it and haven't found anything that says you must kill but just like the Bible it can be interpeted in a way to believe it does.

I read what you might call a doctrine that said:
you must convince them to change and if you can't you must demand them to change and if they don't change you must kill them because they are evil and all weaterners are evil and they all must die.

That is why I don't belong to any one church, I believe in the bible and it's word in how I read it not how someone preaches it to me.

And that brings us back to the title " The youth of America are blinded".

Change is what we all want in Washington and if someone preaches it enough young minds start believing it without questioning it.
We all know if you want change in Washington they all have to agree on it and I would like to know how Obama plans on doing this if he always votes party line, I already know McCain will reach to the other side but I haven't seen Obama do this.

McCain is a likeable person and seems to have an open mind, I don't get the same feeling from Obama he seems to be self absorbed.

Superbrown, My comment was in regards to Gemini one’s reply. You must have us mixed up or something? Are you correcting me or Agreeing? I stated that "All" religions have radical "NUTS". But the teaching of the Muslim religion “overall” does "not" condone Killing as Gemini one suggests. No more than the Christian religion does condone it. Only “ignorant” or very “misinformed” people believe "ALL" Muslims teach to 'KILL" westerners. A belief created by American Westerners due to hatred of the all Muslims because of 911. The truth is, the Muslim religion and Koran as a hole teaches love and Compassion "NOT KILLING", as Gemini one suggested. Christian Religion has a very long “EVIL” track record of killing. If Christianity was to get off today the way it started in the beginning, it would be seen as the most evil cult ever to have taken birth during civilization times. Yet here it is today doing just fine picking up new people day after day.

Continued.;
Remember back in the day, If you would not become a Christian, you were tossed off a cliff or be-headed also at times, enslaved or burned at the stake. Also, Hitler’s was a Christian as well as George Bush and now America’s Idol’s McCain, Palin and Obama. Palin has already went on record that God will lead her through the Presidency if Elected. Good luck to us all if that happens. Nearly every war ever taken place on the earth war directly connected to Religion one way or the other. In my opinion “All religion is “EVIL” when “not” practiced properly and or mixed with politics or leadership, History has proven that but people still choose to forget or refuse to see it. Religion and Politics do not and never have mixed.

Last Superbrown, You claim the Koran Sates We must ride the world of “evil”? Now, do you actually believe ridding the world of “EVIL” was intended to read Kill all westerners? Do you as many Americans still think our democracy was around here and doing well 6,000 years ago As the “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?” Anyone who thinks the Bible or Koran is telling people to “KILL” by interpreting the passage of “Ridding the world of evil” as killing all other religions is “weak” minded at best. And when it comes to radical ‘NUTS which “all religions” have, the weak minded are always the best Targets for them to recruit. Fortunately 99.9999% of the rest of the people on earth are not weak minded and would interoperate that passage as just that, ridding the world of “evil” not the people in it.

Palin has already went on record that God will lead her through the Presidency if Elected.

gangster, If you pray and you listed to that prayer, (no matter what your religion), you will be led to the truth.

BUT many many leaders in history for refused to pray, as at that point they thought of themselves as god-like.
Hitler might have been brought up in a Christian house, but he had become to believe of himself as god-like, and I doubt if he ever prayer. Same thing with Iran's Achmadinijad, Cambodia's Pol Pot, and Korea's Kim Jong IL, they started to believe not only that they are their countries leader, but they are god-like.
Yes, prayer can guide you, but you must be humble enough to listen.

Gangster – “Only “ignorant” or very “misinformed” people believe "ALL" Muslims teach to 'KILL" westerners. A belief created by American Westerners due to hatred of the all Muslims because of 911. “

So then in 1979 when Iran took control of our embassy and started the battle cry “Death to America” this was some illusion perpetrated in 2001 after 9/11? When in 1993 the Muslim terror group tried to blow up the WTC in an effort to kill thousands of Americans that was just some illusion perpetrated as some anti-Muslim marketing scheme post-0/11?

Were the Muslims who blew a hole in the side of the USS Cole acting in good will, but got swift boated by 9/11 anti-Muslim hatred. WHAT A JOKE!!

“Christian Religion has a very long “EVIL” track record of killing.”

But you won’t really find New Testament teaching about killing anything but sin in our selves (Like Col 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.)

It was when the Church decided to rule the earth and bring heaven down that they started their so called “evil track record of killing”, sort of like atheists evil track record of killing.

“ If Christianity was to get off today the way it started in the beginning, it would be seen as the most evil cult ever to have taken birth during civilization times.”

How so? If you read through The Acts of the Apostles, you will find a different picture. Christians were being put in jail, they were stoned. Rome captured them and sent them to the Coliseum to be killed for

Hybrid, So are you also claiming that due to a few Radical "NUTS" that All Muslims are "EVIL?" Your examples certainly seem to indicate that is your belief?

As for Style girl, I agree with some of your points, But you fail to see mine. My point was based on another comment that was made that "ALL" Muslims are "EVIL" and condone "KILLING" What I was Pointing out is that "ALL" religions have "NUT JOBS" that condone their distorted views of a particular religion. And due to those few "Nuts" does not reflect the true Religions out there that for the most part are good and mean well. Christianity also has a "EVIL" past but those "EVILS" are based on Radical "NUTS" that make their own interpretations of scriptures only to justify their own validations to "KILL" Anyone that truly understands the core of the scriptures will tell you "KILLING" is not what the messages are about. Both in Christianity and Muslim faiths.

Hybrid, if what are you are trying to do is use the bible or Koran to justify your ridicules’ theory that ALL Muslims are "EVIL" then you may have issues or need more time with your "GOD" for I'm sure your "GOD" does not condone this Nor does Mohamed from the Muslim faith in regards to the few Muslims “NUT”radical’s you try to generalize as all Muslims.

Gangster - “Hybrid, So are you also claiming that due to a few Radical "NUTS" that All Muslims are "EVIL?" Your examples certainly seem to indicate that is your belief?”

Consider what you wrote. You stated that there was “A belief created by American Westerners due to hatred of the all Muslims because of 911” that all Muslims Teach to kill westerners. My point was that Muslims have been seeking and succeeding in the murder of westerners since 1979, not 2001. So the concept that Muslims have a “Kill westerners” policy is not new. Sure, not all seek our death, but those who are in that club need to be taken seriously.
