I was on my way home last night fom sheffield lake, I left about 9:30 PM, I told my wife that we should see alot of fireworks on the way home, we had about an hour and a half ride.

As we made our way down Innerstate 90 we noticed all the big burst and heard the loud reports, it looked great, there was a few here and there along the way and we were getting closer to Cleveland, and I will say that they had the most, big burst to the left, to the right and in front of us.... I had the radio on listening to 98.5 and nothing good was on I switched it to 97.5 and nothing good was playing, then I switched it to 105.1 a country station something I don't like is Country music, they started playing a audio of Red Skelton explaining the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, and then it struck me ( like a brick in the Face) my wife said it felt like we were in a war zone, I told my wife that they us to use the fireworks to find the enemy at night, and then I started to picture what it must have been like, I got chills all over my body.

Independeance Day isn't about blowing off fireworks, it's about the long and hard battle our forefathers went through for all of us, all the blood and guts that were left on the battlefield, all the fathers, sons, grandfathers, and uncles that died for our freedom, it's for all the women and childern that were left alone during the battle and after it when they found out their husbands and fathers were not comming home.

Red Skelton, if you never heard of him was a comedian, I caught the latter part of his years growing up he was a funny guy, but on this he wasn't funny at all, he made a point and on this July 4 2008 I got it, the passion for this country is dying, the life of freedom is being sucked out of it, freedom of choics is slowly dissapearing in the night, we as a county need to figure out what to do before it's too late.

If you would like to listen to Red Skelton, here's the link,

Remember, Independance day was fought for You and me to be free, I hope we never forget that.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND FOR WHAT IT STANDS FOR.

The passion I have for America is very deep in my heart, I will always regret not joining the military, to be able to say I have served this great Country.
The pride one must have to say that, I just wish everyone felt the same, I don't see it tho, many people want the Governmet to hold our hand, to take care of us, yet when the Government does something to help, they slap it in the face.
You have to learn to stand on your own two feet, have pride in what you do, no matter what it is, this Country wasn't built on hand outs, it was build on blood, sweat, and tears, of our forefathers, and they were not perfect, they made mistakes along the way, but learned from them, no one is perfect we all make mistakes and learn from them, this Country is still learning and growing, we are the infant of this world, yet everyone leans on us...

Every time I see father's playing baseball with their kids, neighbors cooking out in their yards, families going camping or leaving on a vacation, everyday life in general, I reflect on how all these things are possible because of the sacrifices of our relatives, friends and forefathers. I try to never forget that all the freedom and security I have is due to them. With all of our problems, we are still a great country!

OK what is the name of the movie, I seen him on alot of shows but never in a movie,I guess I'll have to check netflix.

I will agree with that girlscout, this is a great Country, but I would think that there are other Countries like us that can do the same things, the difference between us and them, we can bring our government to it's knee's, speak out in public against it and still be living...

rickyw, that should have been, who gives two shiites about iraqis..

I tend to agree with that, that is one of the so called reasons we are still over there, thay are still fighting with each other, and can't agree on anything, one tribe wants more power then the other, and after we leave it will go back to the way it was.....

I have heard the Red Skelton clip before. I know it was a year or two ago, and yes it is really good. And I don't know if the Plain Dealer re-published the Declaration of Independence on the 4th or not, but the Keene Sentinal did on the 3rd(they didn't publish on the 4th) and other papers published it on the 4th as their editorial.
We do like in a great country, even though some people feel differently. However, we can do things like go to a baseball game on the Independence Day weekend or spend time with our families and friends. Hopefully, we won't lose all our freedoms that the founders wanted and our ancestors had. Slowly we are loosing our rights as a few feel that the government is the solution for everything even though the government makes a bigger mess of everything.

Thanks for the post Super it was good. I used to watch red when I was a kid too, shows my age and so does my picture, LOL. I agree with the notion that we are doing nothing much in Iraq but being a scapegoat to all of the fighting. I don’t think any of the Arabs over in the Middle East like us. They in my opinion are fighting because of the boundaries that were made for them after World War 2. I still say that we need to support our troops, they are the real heroes and we need to respect that, you all know? God bless and have a great day, Karl.
