If the teamster's decided to strike with the non-union employees, this country would shut down!!!! There are over 50 million teamsters, nothing would move. We need to make a statement, they can't continue to rise prices and force Americans to just keep buying. Everything is moved by trucks, even our ports would shut down. Let's teach them a real lesson!!!!!!!!! Shut the country down for a couple days. Let's get a teamster strike together.

If anything can be done, the truckers can do it.

Watching the "Nightly Business Report" a few nights ago revealed something interesting. It was the report on the countrie's oil and gasoline inventories. When the gasoline inventories increased due to lessening demand (peaople not using as much gasoline) the refinery's simply reduced the production of gasoline in order to keep prices up.

So if we use less the refinery's produce less to keep the supplies low. They've got us!

We need to find a means of transportation that doesn't use gasoline at all. Alcohol from corn is not a good alternative since it has less energy per gallon and thus is actually more expensive than gasoline. Unless it can be made very cheaply.

Our` government had better take a good look at the unreasonable profits made by oil companies.

Hey Shadow good point but the tankers have to off load their oil and there's only so many storage facilities. Eventually the tankers would get backed up and the ripple effect will go all the way to faucet at the oil fields. Reduce consumption and prices will fall. I'm 100% with the truckers.

I am also with the truckers, but we all need to think of something to do and all of us stick together and do it or the government won't take us seriously. Trying to raise a family even when both parents working it is so hard trying to make ends meet. Along with the soaring price of gas and food something needs to be ASAP. I don't care what it is even if I have to miss a day of work to protest I will, but something obviously has to be done and all of us really need to stick together.

Hmmm...and where I work can do their part and hope that the weather stays warm so the drivers cannot idle their trucks and hold all trips at least an hour so that your mail will be delayed an extra day.

Skorpo , I agree with you whole heartedly . I wrote a blog in the news section titled " truckers strike over fuel prices",don't know if you read it or not,but is is basically the same thing you wrote,we need a strike - now - .I know it will be hard to unite truckers across the country on this , especially since we have no serious representation at D.C.. I know some truckers can't afford to shut down ,due to truck payments , insurance , etc, etc, etc, , but we have to try. As caseyjones38 said - truckers are the only ones who can accomplish this,we need motorists help as well, boycott gas stations, limit your running. There are those reading this like,caseyjones38,mommiegrandma,hillbilly67,who fully understand this, as for others , I guess their eyes are not open to the situation. A strike for a week would cripple this country's economy bad and it would probably take 2 months or more to recover from it,but in the long run , is it worth it ? bet your sweet BLEEP it is. Screw oil , I am parked for a week .

I know, how much are we going to have sacrifice before it's through everyone heads, we cannot afford the gas to go to work to be productive citizens. I go to school 2 days a week day and night on Tue and Thurs and I am spending over $40.00 a week in gas , my husband spends about $60.00 a week that 100.00 a week in gas , hello thats just to get to work and school, we have stopped doing everything that is not essential we can't afford it!!!!!!!!!!!
