Land of the free and plentyful?? Hello we can't afford to live. My gas bill is up over 100.00 per month, water bill over 75 dollars, fuel up so much I don't drive as much and I try to consolidate trips to the store and get everything I need. And now grocerys are so freaking expensive. We are in a recession but no one wants to admit it. My home gas bill is so high I leave my heat on a mere 65 degrees and I am still pulling in bills over 250.00 this is ridiculous and my husband makes a really descent wage, I can imagine what people who make less have  to sacrifice. WHY ARE WE NOT GETTING SOME HELP? I don't understand why there has been no relief at all , this is America and we are all living poor!!!

My husband makes a decent wage too, and I know how you feel. It costs him at least $50 a week in gas just to get to work. We live 20 miles from the nearest store, so shopping trips have been cut back to the minimum. We bought a pellet stove to heat our home. When we bought it, a ton of pellets was $100 - 2 years later, it's double. Everytime we figure out a way to save some money, someone else is right behind us figuring out how to justify charging more. It gets so frustrating fighting an uphill battle all the time.

I agree with with everyone here! It's a down right depression! You need like 5 jobs to just make ends meet. And since gas is so high, of course everything else is. This country went to pot, and I still say Bush is the problem. I can't wait till he's out, and hopefully the next president can fix was he has ruined!

**** The Oil Companies are the true Terrorists, they are financially raping the American People as they sit there and take in Billions & Billions in profits, as we all suffer, our familes, the ederly we are being held hostage, peole can't put gas in their cars, heat their homes or buy food, because when gas rises so does everything else, it's truly is a crime!

You can afford to live and your doing it. Though you won't have anything for entertainment.

Here's your prescription:
-Turn your down to 50 and bundle up.
-Close the heat vents on the main floor except for the bedroom so the pipes don't freeze in the basement.
-Buy fewer groceries. Go on a diet.
-Don't buy cigs or alcohol.
-Drive your car as little as possible.
-Save on water. Don't flush unless it's No. 2
-Keep lights off when not in use.
-No fastfood.
-Get current with all bills.
-No new loans or credit cards.
-Get creative and find other ways to cut expenses.

Do this for one year and life will be wonderful.

The Buddha says: "You cannot achieve enlightenment until you endure pain and suffering".

Now, go my child down the path set forth and you will find financial ectasy!

now is the time that the pen is mightier than the sword- if you have a complaint- or even better an idea that will help all America save money, cut fuel costs, and so on- gripping doesn't upon a door- but grabbing the door knob and with a good twist open the door. tell your congressperson & your senator how you feel- just today I wrote to 2 senators and my congresswoman about the economy, tax charges & how difficult I have it while our elected officials live in plenty. And it's not just Bush's fault- its ours too for not writing them and letting them have an ear full! got a complaint? write it to your Senator, Congress-person, your President! quit complaining and start writing!

thanks loon lol I have another Rottweiler too , he wouldn't fit in the pic. I can agree partly with writing congress, but come on they are the voice of the people, you can't tell me they don't know how bad we are struggling oh but maybe they don't since they make $300,000 a year.If they made what we make, they sure as hell would be fighting to help. I think congress should make 60,000 a year. Then we would only get people who want to make a difference, not the one's who only want to fatten their own wallets. How can they be our voice ,when they do not walk in our shoes????
