What is going on with Cleveland Public Schools ???? This is insane I think they need to bring back paddeling. My daughter is in Cleveland Public Schools and so are many of my niecies and nephews . They tell me horror stories about what happens on  the bus, 8th graders fight  5th graders and violence everyday. 0 TOLERANCE is not in effect, in fact I think it is a free for all !!! start holding these ignorant parents accountable, along with their children. You have to worry first about safety then about grades. That whole school address meeting was a joke, everything was made to look so calm and peaceful, that is not the real Cleveland Public Schools we were seeing for purpose of TV.  Our kids are not safe and most of it stems with the parents raising these children with no home training, then sending them to school to act like wild animals !!!! I WANT TO SEE 0 TOLERANCE !!!!!!!!! It is not being enforced , lets not sugar coat the issue ....

I agree with a zero tolerance policy, but our` government telling us how you MUST raise our` children, and these off-the-wall groups telling our` children " You have rights " is seriously limiting the control of our` children.

So true ! Hey I remember getting paddled in school for playing catch with chalk board erasers in the hall . These days parents are afraid of getting hit by thier own children , or afraid the kids will report them to the autorities for child abuse . It's gotten ridiculous, I believe in spanking not BEATING but this "time Out " crap is NOT WORKING !

This a very simple solution...bring back the paddling of youngins....a few times and that will fix everything....oh i'm sorry that's too easy and then there be no law suits for parents or single parents to by thier extra beer and cigs and drugs....go rent the movie Clock Work Orange..that'll wake you up...were almost there...give a little more time

Whoa now busdriver...I was a single parent for quite a few years and that did not stop me from teaching my children respect for themselves and others, and to take responsibility for their actions. They know right from wrong and the consequenses that come with the wrong decisions. The difference between myself as a single mom and many others is that I take the time to talk to my kids. I don't talk at them we actually sit down and have conversations, we also do things as a family so that they do not have an abundance of free time to get into crap.
Skorpo...I absolutly share you opinion. I believe that it is the parents fault, half these parents have no business having 1 child let alone 5,6,7 or how many ever they pop out. Most of the time they have no idea where their kids are, who their with and what their doing nor do they care. It makes me sick when I see kindegardners walking to school by themselves because mom or dad or whoever is to lazy to take them. I am sick of these ignorant people and it makes it so much harder for us good parents who care about our kids to keep them safe when we are not around.

I agree with you 100%. Sadly, I do not think it will get better. Parents either want to be buddies with there kids or can not say no. Even worse, a lot of the kids today do not know who there dad or mom is. I thought if you had kids it was your responsibilty to raise and take care of them, not the government. With every right, also comes responsiility.

To sum it up I have 3 huge dogs over 100 lbs each, who behave better than most of these children now a days I mean these dogs have the brute strength to take over two Rottweilers and an English Mastiff but I have trained them to be under my control. I have trained them well, training being the key word. You can't have a bunch of kids just to raise the amount of your welfare check then let them run wild and expect them to act right. If I did that with my dogs lol we would all be missing limbs but they have respect and home training unlike most children right now.
