Am I the only one who gets angry at bikes in traffic. They want a right to the road, ok? Look at all the things we have to do to legally drive a car. License, insurance, tags,  E-check, registration, etc... Yet these people have a right to mosy along on their bikes, holding up traffic. Drives me nuts!!! You cant even drive thru the metroparks without them in the road. Aren't there bike trails?? What if a bike hits your car, is their insurance company gonna pay? I have seen this to many times almost cause accidents! Not to mention most of them dont even follow the street signs or the stop lights!!!!

No. You are not the only one. Until the politicians create a bike path for cyclists the lives of cyclists will be endangered from angry drivers. I had one (cyclist) hit my car while driving next to me on W130th street. I stopped because I worried, not because I had responsibility. Saw the cyclist was ok and wrote some letters. Anger though? For what? They do have the right to share the road. Sadly they and horse drawn buggies do not have a equitable space to enjoy the road in. Leaving us to deal with it. People are dying. I guess they don't vote or contribute to politicians so they don't count? But anger doesn't do anyone any good. Just try to find ways to live with it, write letters. Keep in mind, most cyclists are afraid of vehicles and for good reason. Sometimes they act out, out of that fear, in anger at us. At those times, I reflect in my air contditioned Ford Edge that I am comoforably seated, not straining myself to keep up, and safe from a collision with them. Maybe one day when people decide that they have had enough of trustin politicians to solve our problems, they will get active and do the right thing??? Dave

I have been on both sides of the issue. Having to ride my bike to work and other places, there are people who don't pay attention to cyclists, even though I do try and stay on the correct side of the road. There are other cyclists who ride on the wrong side of the road and don't have reflective clothing or lights on their bike at night. I was stopped once by a police officer because I didn't have a light on my bike at night.

Yeah. Bike paths please. Drivers you hit me, it's your fault 100% so watch yourself. That's why I ride on the sidewalk. Drivers don't give a F about bike riders.

I have not had a problem with the cyclists that follow the rules and ride responsibly, and I am always causious of them but my b***h is the ignorant kids who ride their bikes in the middle of the street and purpously dare you to hit them, they could care less that they are holding you up and blocking the whole street by riding side by side all the way across, it's so tempting sometimes to hit them like bowling pins....I like my freedom to much and unfortunatly have a real soft spot for kids.

I live in a largely Amish community and I encounter several horse/buggies on a daily basis while driving to and from work. There are also a lot of bike riders. I would never even consider being angry with these people. Just because their means of transportation is slower than mine it doesn't make them in the wrong. The type of anger that you describe is very toxic. We all need to be a little more tolerant of others and then just maybe we will enjoy our own lives a lot more.

Just yesterday I was driving into town and a girl about 12 yrs old was riding her bike on a state route (55 mph), coming towards me, looking over her shoulder, coming towards the yellow line. I had to stop my car. THIS is the kind of bike riders that concern me. She really shouldn't have been on this road.
When I lived in the city, bike riders didn't really bother me. What does bother me is when I come to Cleveland to visit family in the summer when people are standing in the road blocking the cars. Now THAT is annoying.

I feel you gyro, I deal with that nonsense every single day and it is worse when school lets out. These kids have no home training.

These bikers should by right stay either to themselves or in single file as far off to the side as possible away from traffic, and observe all stop signs and red lights as required by law.

nightcop, in an ideal world that would happen, however, they don't follow those rules and then wonder why people get pissed and don't give them space when passing.

Sat. morning I took my son to a boy scout function. When leaving my son and I witnessed a high school kid on his bike get hit by a truck. The truck had came to a complete stop at the stop sign then went to turn, not paying attention on her cell phone. The boy was ok the bike a little beat up. At first I felt anger towards the driver, then felt bad for the kid on the bike.(attn. David Ambro--anger is a normal human emotion. Its how you act when you are angry that defines whether you have a problem.) Needless to say my 7 yr. old is terrified to ride his bike. I am not on neither side of this. We all need to slow down and pay attention. As my grandfather used to say "If their in that big of a hurry, they should have left yesturday!"

sean, I can imagine how scared your son is, my kids would be as well. I hope the kid on the bike is alright. I am guilty of talking on my phone while I drive but I will say that I am very aware of everything around me. My daughter and I were walking the other day and she was in the stroller and we came to a cross walk, I was waiting for the approaching car to stop completly and see us before we crossed and she did stop then as we started to go, she started to creep up, so I backed up and she continued to creep, she was on her phone and never once looked in our direction, I yelled at her, told her to pay attention and get off her damn phone, after her passanger told her we were there she then backed up a little and let us cross then rolled down her window and aplogized. I told her if she can't talk and pay attention then she needs to pull over and park if its that important cause had she hit my daughter, she would have to worry about where I would shove that phone. People are just inconciderate and your grandfather was absolutly right.

Hey jigsgirl, I hear ya, they should ticket anyone who talks on their phone while driving. Honestly what could be that important to put others in danger. Rocky River enforces that law, cant wait till other cities do the same. Some people have a hard enough time just driving, much less trying to talk and drive!
