Earlier, I had written a blog about anyone who works in a nursing home to please contact me. Nobody responded. I didn't want to flat out say exactly what I wanted because although I believe most people have good intentions, I pretty much figured if I said what I had, I would get a ton of responses. I'm trying to do a good thing here and I didn't want it spoiled.

So let me try this approach.

I'm moving to Geneva. In the process of packing, I found a lot of good (many brand new with tags) men's clothes that had either never been worn or barely worn. I had no interest in selling them on ebay or donating them to be sold at a store like goodwill.

I've worked in many nursing homes in my time and I know how a lot of residents either have no family or for some reason or another, their family doesn't bring them in any clothes.

I want to donate these awesome clothes to a nursing home. I'm just not sure which one.

I was hoping someone here could suggest a place where XL/XXL mens shirts/sweaters would be needed.

Herman's Home for Men on the near west side of Cleveland would probably take them. My husband donates to them all the time. I can get their address if you are interested.

Ok. That's an idea. It would probably be cheaper for me to mail it to them then to drive there. I'm a few miles from the border of PA. The west side of cleveland would be a drive.

Well the reason I wanted a nursing home was because after I had my son... I was going to donate all of my maternity clothes to a preggo in need. I placed a free ad on freecycle. Some lady came and picked up all 3 bags. Wasn't pregnant, never planned on getting pregnant.. Just took them because they were free.
Sure, who doesn't like free stuff.. but I want to make sure it goes to people who REALLY need it.

Sassy, why don't you look in the phone book under nursing homes in Lake & Ashtabula. I'm sure any of the nursing homes would be grateful for anything you'd donate. So many of those people don't have anything and all it would take is for you to call ahead and see if they need those mens clothes for their patients.

Then go to a nursing home in your area and see if they could need it. Sometimes you find a shelters that need clothing also. Try your local churches some times they give clothes to the homeless. Assisted living homes can use the clothes more, however nursing homes don't also have the need, because most of the people are bed ridden.
Good luck

Call Broadfield Nursing home in Madison/Geneva Border 1-440-466-3702. I think it's a great thing you are trying to do. So many either want money or just throw them away because they don't want to be bothered. I applaud your efforts in continuing to try to help someone that is in need.

Sassy she probably sold them on Ebay. That happens ALot and it's sad & a no no for Freecycle. Especially when you give them to someone whom you thought you were helping and they turn around and have no intention of having a baby or whatever.

I found some people on Freecycle to be Very picky. I had tons of Iris' (sp?) to give away. I posted they had been dug up and were a mix of colors and listed the colors. I had no idea which color was which. I only had the bulbs! When one person came to pick them up I got the 3rd degree on well are these going to be purple or peach or what? I kept telling them that's why I posted ... I don't know which ones will be purple, peach etc. I couldn't believe they were actually mad because I couldn't tell by the bulb. I posted clearly and they were FREE! What more do you want?! I haven't posted on FC in a long time now, just too many problems. I have had to find other places to give my "treasures" away to.lol
It is very nice of you to try so hard to find someone that will appreciate your generosity.
