The darling of the 90s economy just announced the closing of 600 stores.....Starbucks will close 10% of its stores due to the present economic downturn....obviously Starbucks sees little hope for a near future rebound...and added to that distressing and alarming news the big three auto manufacturers have announced that may sales are the worst in 10 years.....come november ask yourself....can we really take 4 more years?

That's what happens when Starbucks puts several shops right near each other...it was their crazy plans that caused them to have some trouble; you can't blame everything on the Bush Administration Rico. I can see 600 Starbucks stores closing in Southern California alone, without putting a dent in the economy. And can we take 4 years of an apprentice presidency with Barry O?

This November while I'm voting for the only qualified Presidential candidate left, (John McCain) I’ll be sure to remember that he & President Bush are completely different people with totally different points of view on most issues.

I’ll also remember that the proper definition of a “recession” is two consecutive quarters of negative growth, and we’ve yet to have even one.

tell that to the millions of unemployed who walk the streets daily without hope....tell that to them....you people arent hungry because we havent had our second quarter of negative growth.....a recession is as much a psychological phenomena as it is economic....the american people are tired...tired of debt and war....and thats all theyve seen for 8 dreadful years...ask yourself....can we take four more years of debt and war...vote for hope in november

I only drink black coffee, not all the flavored coffee. I never bought coffee at starbucks so I will not be effected by the cut backs, people have to choose between coffee and gas and that is sad.

You say vote for hope in November, hope isn't what I want, I think everybody wants to be right this time.
I don't see anyone in this race that stands out yet, I'm waiting for the debates to see who will be the strongest, I really don't want to hang my vote on just hope alone.

If this keeps up it's going to be more then a recession.........

super, i had 1 cup of coffee there, years ago & i thought it was crappy.

so people will have to start making coffee @ home instead of starbucks? big deal!

you can buy 1 lb of coffee grounds for about the same price as 1 cup of coffee there!

ricky, you are really starting to sound like one of those wah wah wah liberal lefts.........evidently the stellar education you claim you got didn't help you at all! why don't you donate some of your "millions" to the unemployed starbuck's employees? i'm sure they would appreciate it greatly!

I was reading where American pet owners are cutting back on their pets too.

They plan to spend ONLY 40% more over last year on their pets.

Hard times...

But, once Obama is in office, these jobs will return at higher wages. Gas prices will drop to below $2 and coffee will be back in our diets.

Hip-Hip-()

Maybe Obama should run on reining in BIG COFFEE and regulate the cost an distribution of coffee and coffee products.

There is no reason coffee with steamed milk should cost more than a plan cup of coffee. Maybe Obama could TAX coffee so Americans will reduce their consumption of coffee. He could launch a campaign that said “Coffee consumption is bad for the earth.” Maybe tie coffee consumption to global warming...all the steam.

LOL!!

that "big deal" dprin will cost our economy 12,000 jobs....thats TWELVE THOUSAND TAXPAYERS NOW BEING SUPPORTED BY GOVERNMENT UNEMPLOYMENT.....is that what you want to continue for four more years?

Um, I would think your so-called college education would tell you that Bush is unable to run this term as he's already served 2 consecutive terms. Or, did you NOT pay attention in your government classes?

Who cares that Starbucks is closing stores? Their coffee sucks, anyhow. And as far as the "losing jobs" factor? Well, guess what? In case you haven't noticed, ricky, jobs are being lost all the time, but not all to closures. Rather, they are being lost to outsourcing and sending our jobs to other countries, which our government has so duly permitted. Will your boy, Obama, change that issue? Will we once again be able to call tech support and get an AMERICAN who can speak ENGLISH if Obama is in office? Will our people be able to have those jobs back? Bet it doesn't happen!

ricky, all i can say is sh** happens. it's not bush's fault that greedy starbuck's built one on every corner to excess..........

most of the positions in those places are low level entry positions. meaning that all these people that are losing their jobs don't have any real skills except for coffee........so, they go to wal mart, kmart, the mall, mcdonalds whatever.............MOST of these places are hiring as we speak......

don't hear of any walmarts closing down, or mcdonald's, etc etc. a job is a job & none of these people are too good for it.........

btw, government unemployment is paid for by the employer on a quarterly basis for each & every quarter one works. this is not the drain in government resources that you crazy libs like to scream about. it's already been paid for by the employer.

this is truely amazing...ok clevebtch...i ll try this again even slower......what the democrats have to do to beat mccain is constantly take the attention back to the failed bush administration....rather obviously bush cant run again....i for one wish he could....not since the 25th amendment to the constitution limited executives from holding office for more than 9 years 364 days....i used to teach government honey......now...do you understand...or do you want it in babytalk
