I love the way these kids speak,  this is supposed  to be English!!???.  I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...
Lemmie ax you a question….

And I blamed the kids until I heard the mothers talk ..

And then I heard the fathers talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English

except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor

with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.

In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People
marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now
we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500
sneakers for what ? ?

And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in
an orange suit.

Where were you when he was  2 ? ?
Where were you when he was 12 ? ?

Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a
pistol ? ?

And where is the father ? ? Or who is his father ?

People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that
a sign of something ?

Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up ?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got
all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from??

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing
about Africa..

With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and
all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white
person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight
different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players who cannot read.

We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs
We, as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart
with seven kids, you are hurting us.

We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.

We cannot blame the white people any longer.'
Dr. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed.D.

     WAY TO GO, BILL !!
         It's NOT about color...
                It's about behavior!!!
PASS THIS ON AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

Good Monday afternoon from L.A. California .
meggio , if you lived in L.A. you'd go crazy . Yes it's the parents fault . Unfortunately the parents are ignorant and alot of them don't know any better . Usually they have gone through life with only a Jr. High school education maybe less and were brought up by parents that were worse . I believe we should educate the parents . I'm not sure how that should be enforced but that's what I believe .

Latinawoman,

I am not trying to be a jerk, but lack of education is not an excuse. Common sense should tell ANYONE that if your situation is not good, FIX IT!!

"WE" should not “have” to educate any adult on this topic. If you ( not you per say, but in general ) wish to be educated, then SEEK IT and educate yourself, and your children, and your children's children. If you came from poor, inner city living ( which I did ) then why would you not be motivated to better yourself and make it so your children do not suffer the same as you did. I have worked every day since I was 14, put myself through school, and now have a decent job, with ok pay, and have shown my children that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it and work for it. Its not rocket science, its just plain old common sense…ya know?

Again sitting around saying I am not educated to know any better, is just another BS excuse to not take responsibility for one’s own actions and place in society...I have said it before I will say it again…

NO ONE OWES ANYONE ANYTHING!! You deserve only what you work for. If you do not work for it YOU DO NOT DESERVE IT….period

pardon my ranting....

meggeo , I agree that no one is owed anything and yes everyone should work and educate themselves . I too have worked hard all of my life . I've worked with children and their parents . Yes you would think that everyone has common sense , but unfortunately not everybody does . Some people are idiots . I too get frustrated when I hear how some people mutalate the english language , but now it sounds like you are just pisssed off at life and at a certain group of people . Some people do need guidance not everybody is as SMART as you : )

latina, i have to disagree with you as well. my father didn't finish the 8th grade, but he certainly knew how to raise his children, and run a business................lack of education is no excuse.........lack of the selflessness & drive to be the best parent you can is the problem. (among other things)

Hello , I'm not just talking about school education but just learning how to apply common sense .I know of people that barely completed the 6th grade and that have raised wonderful , respectful and well spoken children . Unfortunately there are people out there who do not have the ability to use their common sense . I do not like or condon gang bangers or drug addicts , Please do not misunderstand my point . Oh well , bye for now .. thanks for the chance to express my opinion : )

His new book about how the Black Community HAS got to get out of Victim mode is Great.. he is shunned by the Black activists who think it is whiteys fault and not their own like Michael Dyson (author and Professor), and the New Black Panters. He railed into the people of New Orleans who still had 200 murders last year and have done nothing to pick up themselves while the Vietnam Fisherman have already recovered and rebuilt.

There is no excuse is his message and gets mad, like I do when he sees Martin Luther King Dream in destruction.

Great Post... thanks

Everyone wants to change everybody else.
It is hard to teach someone respect when everyone tells them how hopeless there situation is and blames it all on the ones that are better off than they are.
When you teach hate, failure, class envy and tell them they are just victims.
It's very hard to teach anyone that has a negative view of the world and doesn't see the need to learn.
We are the problem for accepting these bad behaviors.
But, we can change ourselves and set a good example.
1. Try cleaning up our own language in public.
2. Say please and thank you and mean it,
(tell someone when they are doing a good job).
3. Show respect for others when driving, (no one is really out to get us).
4. Go out of our way to do something good for someone we don't know.
5. Smile often, it is uplifting and a positive emotion.
6. Gripe at ourselves for making bad decisions, not bad luck, not someone else's fault.
7. Take ownership of our bad behavior and accept the results and the punishment, (we did it and we know we did it).
8. If you believe in a God, speak of your God and pray openly, it teaches respect and that there is a higher power.
9. Don't dwell on the past, look for a better way to improve your future.
Learn to do these things yourself because you are the only one that you can really change.
It says something positive about us, it sets a better example and it does rub off.

Great Post... thanks

I watch a program on PBS called "This Old House". They have been called to New Oleans to help a woman refurbish her house. They have shown hundreds of houses just sitting there as derilick wrecks. The former owners not trying at all to fix them. They seem to be waiting for someone else to come along and fix their houses FOR THEM! Which has happened in a few cases. Habitant For Humanity is in there now but they seem mostly to be building NEW houses in which the owners will have some sweat equity. Politically, New Orleans is primarily Democrat. Maybe these people are waiting for the Democrat "change" to repair their homes.

I've always admired Bill Cosby on his views. Pretty much says, you're responsible for yourself and the situation you're in, if you don't like it, get off your butt and do something about it instead of looking to place blame elsewhere. There are so many programs out there to help people better themselves, and either they are too lazy or just don't have the courage to take advantage of them.

My comment doesn't exactly have to do with Bill Cosby but it's related. Sort of.

I was in my early twenties, just out of the Navy when I worked at a New York State Hospital. A psychiactric hospital. We had an RN who was about the same age as my father. Which means that she was a young adult during the depression years as my father was. I constantly hear much about how Negros are being held back because of prejudist etc. But this woman gained an education during the depression years and she was one of three charge nurses at the hospital. The highest position for a nurse at our hospital. Her husband was a professor at Syracuse University. Also educated during the depression. As far as I know, neither came from wealthy families. They both gained an education under rather adverse conditions. Which is why everyone was astounded to see both of them convicted in 1965 of selling illecit drugs. The easy money was simply too attracti8ve?

One of the things he said sticks out to me.

How in heck does ANY young person expect to impress someone enough to hire them for a decent job? The people who do the hiring for the "decent" jobs (mostly) are in the 30-50 yr range. None of them are impressed with your underwear, piercings, breasts, "teenage" speech, etc etc.

How you present yourself speaks volumes about your inner condition. (most of the time).
