If Gas prices go to $4 dollars this summer then I'll have to start walking because I think the gov. loves makeing as much money as they can and they do not think about the low income familys that can't afford to pay the high gas prices.

I am sick of the gas prices and I am sick of George Bush. The President is sitting there raking in all the damn profits from the oil. I heard this morning that the oil company announced their yearly profit was like 2.8 BILLION???? How should they make a profit while we sit here and struggle to make ends meet? This economy is messed up b/c of Bush. I am saddened my children have to grow up in this world today b/c jobs are slim to none but they want to jack up all the prices and force good people that want to work to end up begging in the welfare line. Thanks George Bush for ruining everyone's lives.

I agree, but it isn't just the USA...it's the whole world. Human greed and selfishness is destroying the world. We all want a bite out of the big apple...but some people think they should have it all. Yes, the gas lords are getting rich...at the expense of the poor...it is just a matter of time until they have ALL the money in the world. They will OWN the whole world, and be in CONTROL of the world...and yes, they will be able to make you live in a cardboard box. What a system! And there isn't anything we can do about it.

There IS something we can do about it: invest in alternative resources that are (unlike oil) renewable. The government can do all our citizens a favor by investing in this research to make these fuels and vehicles more affordable. The REALLY sad fact is that the automakers have some genius engineers who could (maybe already have?) devise alternative-fueled vehicles, but rest assured that the oil companies are using some of their profits to keep the struggling automakers like GM and Ford afloat. It's business lobbying, as opposed to political lobbying. Another thought is the old "If you can't beat 'em, join em!" Buy stock in these oil companies and collect dividends on those huge profits.

As far as Bush "ruining everyone's lives:" Oil greed has been around longer than G.W. Bush, and it will be here long after he is gone. Gas prices started their steep ascent and economic growth slowed down when Bill Clinton was still in office. I don't blame Clinton for that; it's an effect of a somewhat-unstable Middle East and Venezuela (our biggest importers of oil) plus corporate greed plus political greed by the OPEC countries who like to scale back production to keep prices high.
