Isn't that kind of a double sided statement? You say the parents don't know where there kids are half the time. I agree. So if the parents aren't doing there job. Then the government has to step in and do it. Don't you feel that to some degree that parents who have not taken control of there children have basically given there rights away? It has become such an epedimic with out of control kids that they have to step in? I personally feel it's these parents who don't discipline and control there children that has caused the government to start taking over. It's a double edged sword!

PARENTS & SOCIETY WONDER WHY WE HAVE BOMB THREATS, KIDS RUNNING AROUND IN STORES, KIDS STEALING, DRINKING, TALKING BACK TO ADULTS, TEACHERS HIT AND TALKED BACK TO, KIDS LAUGHINH WHEN TOLD WHAT TO DO, SAYING MAKE ME OR YOU CAN'T MAKE ME, JUST LOOK BACK IN HISTORY WHEN THE WOOD SHED WAS USED OR THE BOILER ROOM IN SCHOOL, WE DIDN'T HAVE HALF THE PROBLEMS WITH KIDS 5 THRU I8 OR 19 COURSE ALSO PEOPLE USED TO TAKE THIER KIDS TO CHURCH TO TEACH THEM RIGHT FROM WRONG AS WELL, BUT THAT OLD BIBICAL SAYING "SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD", WE ARE NOT TALKING ABUSE JUST GOOD OLD FASHION DISCPLINE!! WAIT TILL YOUR FATHER GET'S HOME. ADULTS ARE AFRAID OF THE SYSTEM ACLU HAS RUINED THIS COUNTRY AND THIS GENERATION!!

I Agree with you! My kids KNOW they will get a swat on the butt & sit in a corner. Yes I do the timeout but I WILL SPANK I was & turned out Great! I was taught Respect for my Elders. I am trying to instil that in to my kids. They say yes mam no mam , yes sir & no sir to There elders. The way Childern Should.

This is just another example of how communist this country is becoming. It's easy for them say this because most of them have nannies who rasie there kids. There is nothing wrong with spanking your child. I don't believe they should be whipped with any object other than you hand. Yes I was whipped with switches and belts when I was a kid but the problem is you don't realize how hard you might be spanking your child.Using your hand you do. I strongly believe no one should have the right to whip your kids other than the parents and definately not schools!This is a big problem in todays society because kids need to realize consiquences. All this is, is another way for the government to make more money.There is a difference between child abuse and spanking your child for discipline.If this bill passes we will see many more "Columbine" incidences.Wake up America and see little by little they are taking our rights away for everything.

easy said old saying,spare the rod and spoil the child.i am old school,a spanking,NOT a beating needs to come back in our society.much disrespect being shown by the youth of today,because they have no fear of penalty. to many soft hearted bleeding hearts look to blame everyone but the child.yes there are instances where the way of life around the child has caused problems. i grew up in the sixties where discipline was handed out when you went awry.now look at out youth gangs,guns,hard drugs.well i have rambled on more then planned but the future of our youth lies in knowing when cause a problem they are not going to get a"slap on the hands"

As far as the schools using corporal punishment. I wouldn't mind. They have to notify the parent, and the parent has the option to be there. I got paddled one time in school in about the 2cd grade. I'll tell you that I was petrified. There were about 4 of us. We got a paddle in front of the class. I don't remember the actual paddling. I do remember being scared to death. Needless to say, that never happened again!!!!!
