I am so very up set and I just had to let people know how I feel about these people, I always thought that they take an oath to take care of people or animals but in all realltiy MONEY comes first before the health of an animal or a person.  They will not see you unless you pay them first. I have had a kitten since he was 10 wks old but now is 6 months old and I am on a fixed  income and last night my  kitten was bleediing from his rectum and i called 3 different place for help but they wanted CASH first before they would even see him, well I told all 3 places that I called said " so you are telling me that MONEY is more important than the life of a aniaml, to me in my opion is , that is being creul to an animal , they took an oath but wont help  because I had no money at that time., but let a person hurt an animal or a person and they get into trouble, like animal cruetltiy. How sad that aniamals have to suffer just because they are GREEDY and want their all might MONEY up front before they will even look at them. How sad that makes me. Lucky my kitten seems to be fine but no thanks to a VET, why because I could not pay at the time of serve, MAYBE we should start calling the HUMAN SOCIETY on them for being cruel to aniamals.Apparently the oath they take is for their MONEY.!!!!!!!!

Hello lovelyhair,

I feel your dispair at this time. I understand completely what you are saying. Funny when one can go to the ER as a human and your in danger of needing surgery due to bleeding of some sort, then it is performed no questions asked. Your not asked to put up money at that time!! However, you go into a drs office and your asked to give payment. Well, me being in the medical field I understand as to why they say this. Many times patients will come in and see the dr run a bill up and the office will never get paid. The dr. has done the work no payment recieved. This happened many times and I had to tell the patients we could not see them unless payment is made. Unforuntely, only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch! Many people in the past have ruined it for others. I completely understand what you are saying. There may be one person or vet out there that may help you. Have you tried your local shelter to see if they can help you out? Good luck and hope your able to find some help for your pet. God bless you.

I feel bad that you are in this situation, but these people go to school to be vets and have loans to pay back and bill to pay for running an office. And i also know first hand how many people come into these offices because of a problem with there pet, get them taken care of and then dont pay. Now a days people promise that they will make payments. then the docters have to pay more just to go after these people. Its people like this that make it this way, not the docters. They cant trust everybody. I wish you luck with your pet and hope you find someone to help you

There are some low-cost animal centers around the Northern Ohio area. There is one called "Gateway", I believe, that charges much less than most Vets. I think it is in the Tremont area, near West side of Cleveland.

Lovelyhair - I would suggest you go to school to be a vet, and then open a free pet clinic.

Show them how it is done!

lovely hair- I know just how you feel... from the doctor's side of things... how dare they try and chagre me $400.00 for an office procedure... then I send it to my insurance and find out the agreed upon amount for said procedure is $128.00? BLEEP? If I didn't have insurance I couldn't go back and say, I think $400.00 is too much for that, how about I only pay you $200? That would never fly...

As far as your kitty is concerned, if you need to have your kitty seen by a vet I would recommend Gateway Animal Clinic, it is located on Abbey Rd. in Cleveland (around west 15th street)... The clinic is a walk in clinic and has much lower prices than most vets...
Best of luck to you

Hey chemist, I saw the Burning River Roller Girls were on Fox8 a few weeks ago (months?). Where were you?

They introduced all the girls, but your name didn't come up.

Were you stuck working for the man?

Ricky - "and people who cant afford animals shouldnt keep them"

But where do you draw the line? What if the owner can feed and house the pet? Isn't that good enough? What if they can also pay for monthly medications? Is that enough? Should they be required to afford expensive medical treatments too? Some parents of children don’t meet those requirements.

Don't be mean Ricky.

Rickyw...You are intitled to your own opion but you dont know the reaason why I have a pet, dont'd judge a book by its cover is the why my parents raised me.

I feel your your frustration- been there. everything costs money. yet they constantly advertise to adopt a pet - yet offer no reasonable ways to meet the financial costs to adopt & keep these animals healthy. vets should realize the cheaper their costs the more business they would have. remember the vet has bills to pay also- the electric, gas, water just from his office alone. learn to put money aside - I know its hard- just for animal fund emergencies- then read books on how to care for your pet by yourself, and when it really is a must to see the vet. learn & watch from your vet also.

CAKhomelodge- I understand where you ae coming from, I did have funds put up but someelse came up and it went else where, they need to understand and realize that NOT all PEOPLE are going to STIFF them on their money, I offered to leave my car n car title n drivers licesne until I get my check on the first. I have good credit.Yea they show on fox 8 news for all these aniamls that need adopted and other agencies too but you dont get a break , they want us to help an animal by adopting them but when something goes wrong with the aniaml than they cant help you if you dont have their MONEY !!!

maybe try a new vet- shop around- try calling animal rescue shelters- they may guide you to a vet who will work with you. You sound like a sincere & caring person, & I do know that sometimes you have money saved for the rainy day & the rainy day comes without warning.I do hope your kitty is okay- i can sympathize with your problem- I've been there.some people just do not care- others have been hurt or used to many times and it then is hard to trust again- hope things work out for you & the kitten

CAKhomelodge- Thank you for your understanding and my kitten is doing better, Thank Gosh, but no thanks for a vet, it stopped on its own, the bleeding that my tigger had coming from his rectum. On the first I will then take him to my vets to see if all things are well. Thank you again for all your concerns.

This situation is not just related to pets and animals. Remember the report of the woman that died on the hospital floor because she couldn`t pay for treatment ? I think the last doctor to ascribe to the hypocratical oath was "Hawkeye" Pierce. Or maybe "Patch" Adams.

I feel your pain lovelyhair.

My goat was attacked by a neighbor's dog. The vet came to the house, cleaned the wound, gave him a shot and I was basicly on my own. His attitude? "well, he'll be lucky to make it through the night - that will be $425".
I was shocked at the price, and the uncaring attitude of this man.
It was a huge hit to my wallet, but today, my little buddy is alive and well.
Think I'll try to find another vet though. :-(

caseyjones38- I know how that person felt because for 3 yrs I had NO insurance and last summer I had a heart attack and all the doc did at the hospital was yell at me because I am was on my blood pressue pills, well hello that takes money which I did not have at the time, no insurance n no money> I aggree with you...I borrowed 90 bucks off of a friend of mine and took my xrays in for the doc to see they said that they need to take more xrays and I told them that I had no insurreance and gee then all of a sudden the doc did not need more xrays, he sat there and told me there was nothing he could do for me and sent me on my way, so for 5 mins he made 90 bucks.
