I am so tired of hearing about the Jena thing, people need to realize that 2 wrongs don't make it right. I feel that no matter what race you are and something happens that as long as people keep making a big deal out of it then people will ponder on it. How sad that people have to act this way. Why can't the ADULTS of this world set better examples for our children. You wonder why certain children are turning out like they are, I feel these children are learning this from their parents but as long as you have people protesting, now what kind of example is that settting for our children. I have grandchildren and I have told them all  that these people that are protesting, well kids they dont know any better and don't lower yourself to their standards and yes what has happened is wrong but that these ADULTS along with the children that did this, doing what they did to the tree and then doing what the 6 boys did was all wrong, everyone that is involved was in the wrong and I tell my grandkids that just remember that  people in general need to grow up and realize that 2 WRONGS DON'T MAKE IT RIGHT !!!

the punishment for what those kids did was outrageous.that is the reason they were prtesting. true two wrongs don't make it right, but if no ine stood up for those kids, they would be in jail for a long time. you have murderers, and predetors with lesser sentences. where is the justice

I really have not read up on this case to much. I was just wondering if the fight was 6 on 1. I surely hope not. I can understand a good old fashion fair fight. But if it's 6 kids beating up on one. They really could have killed him, and that's not good.

This episode in civil rights shows the disparity in the criminal justice system. I agree that two wrongs don't make a right, but the problem is in the punishment. There were several incidents that lead up to the fight and beating of the young man. Nooses have been hung, threats have been made and guns have been pulled on African American students. In these cases, none of the suspects were prosecuted. These six young men were also expelled from school where as the white antagonist were merely suspended for a few days and their noose hang incident dismissed as a childish prank. Furthermore, the District Attorney, J. Reed Walters allegedly threatened the African American children in the student body by saying he could end their lives by a stroke of his pen. In light of these events, it is doubtful that these yong men will be treated in a fair and equitable manner. Let the punishment fit the crimes for all parteis involved.

One of the six, had a previous ASSAULT ARREST, the others are all sealed due to age. I guess what all of the Blacks wanted was the HANGING of the Original wrong doers! The man beaten was not involved in the Noose deal. Exactly when will a hate crime be punished when it is a white who was beaten, raped or murdered? NEVER. TSWRA!!

People can debate until they are blue in the face but the truth remains.....IT IS NEVER GOING TO END. I think its sad but I think things are going to be so much worse when my children are adults and it saddens me!!!

Hdrider-man beaten was not involved in the Noose deal.

Yes he was, he was the friend of the kids who put the nooses up, and no one is saying they shouldn't be charged, but ATTEMPTED MURDER- outrageous- The kid had a black eye and was out of the hospital in 2 hours.

And once again we have Republicans on this site trying to make it seem like they are being persecuted (persecution complex) to excuse racism- They have been manipulated into doing this by the Right Wing Media Talk Show hosts like racist scumbag Rush Limbag and others who tell them everyday how WASPS are under attack by Gays, Immigrants, Blacks, Humanists, Secularists, and Liberals.

It is the WASPS under the leadership of the Conservative Right Wing movement that are the ones who are persecuting people! And never forget what this case was about, Black students wanting to sit under a White's Only tree!

Plain and simple if you act like criminals, you get treated as such, Race has nothing to do with it

What happened to the protests before this came to what it is. Maybe stage a sit in under that whites only tree. Oh thats right we dont do that any more, now we wait until we get as much media coverage as possible and then we step in dont we NAACP. Does anyone think that MLK did what he did for national media attention or because it was right?

All you ignorant people who don't know the story stop freaking commenting on s**t you don't know about. The kids did silently protest under the tree after the nooses were put up and thats when they had the assembly where the district attorney threatened them!! Rebublicans, democrats who really gives a BLEEP!THE PUNISHMENT DOSEN'T FIT THE CRIME and this is an abuse of the legal system and anyone who dose't believe this was racial is a BLEEP mooron!!!!I'm just sick and tired of white people trying to make it seem like we're over exagerating when in my opinion we're not doing enough. And why are people complaining about the media coverage, until the media finally decided to cover the story that day some people had never even heard the story, so don't give me that bs that jackson and sharpton only showed up because of media because they have been involved throughout this whole process and it's because of them that it did get national coverage!!

ALL (black and white) are complicit in the fighting. The problem is the punishment.

The White kid WAS NOT the only victim. PRIOR to this incident, a Black kid was invited to the home of a White friend for a party. While there, the White kids who were implicated in hanging the nooses, along with others, beat up the Black kid. Only misdemeanor charges were brought against the White kids in JUEVENILLE COURT and they were put on PROBATION.

The fight that included the Jena 6 took place because - when this Black kid returned to school, the White kids involved in his beating taunted him about the beating and continued to harass him. That is how this fight came about; and during the fight this White kid (who is part of the problem – not an innocent victim as the media is trying to portray him) got beat up and had to go to the hospital. He was treated for a mild concussion, abrasions, and an ugly black eye...and released 2 hours later.

Unlike the fight where the White boys beat the Black kid up and got PROBATION – the Black boys got charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER and the case was forwarded to the adult court.

Those are the FACTs.

Do some of the Jena 6 have arrest records? Yes – one – Mychael Bell, minor assault charges and trespassing. Does that make Bell a hardened criminal? Hell no….some of you have been arrested for DUIs, domestic violence, and probably worst. Does that make you a hardened criminal?

And what does Bell’s arrest record have to do with THIS situation? Does it mean that these boys did not have the right to defend themselves? Se

Jena - LovelyHoney (con't)

And what does Bell’s arrest record have to do with THIS situation? Does it mean that these boys did not have the right to defend themselves? Seems to me, the White boys just met their match.

Now, had the powers-that-be (Jena adults) had half the sense of the Twinsburg teachers and administrators who let their students wear Black and march in support of Jena 6, maybe there would be NO Jena 6. Had the Jena adult community been “proactive” versus “reactive” to the situation, they could’ve brought those students together to talk about their biases – because WE ALL have them. But what was their solution – TO CUT THE DAMN TREE DOWN.

That’s the mentality in Jena 6 – and that’s why you have the protest – and rightfully so.

Thanks for keeping it real Gorbash

let me say yes its wrong to do this to those kids but ive come to expect nothing less screwd up with our system today.i have been on both sides and can not agree with the fairness that our govn. says we have. however i can see where seperation still exists and we are far from any solutions to it today. yes black and white is still a horrible issue and with all that we are going through with other countries shoot we need to realize we breathe the same air and our fight should be as one. i personally judge blacks as to a point of my experiances that i have been treated unfair and yet i have also seen where its been unfair to single out a color of skin to wether one can enter. now my perspective on our justice system well i can not stand it and is ashamed to be an american with the way they allow some to have more rights than others and it should be the same punishment for all regardless of color or religion or another countries beleif, if your here than abide by what we stand for. these young men did nothing more than what i would have done if aproched by another ( kick some a$$). now i do not agree that we should make an issue of marches for it of course i would like to see one done for a white man being treated badly but then again not anytime soon and yes im being pro white on that remark. bottom line if we can make a difference for this incident why cant we make a huge progress with the idiots on the hill to better our lives as a whole nation. example of why its hard to be fair to others from our view is all around us with immigrants to color and so fourth. stand for our

Some Republicans are trying to justify and reintroduce Segregation policies, and those who aren't are remaining silent about the few who are!

Pablo Kielbasa/Johnny Miranda is a Conservative Republican (he admitted it to me himself) and is arguing for Resegregation.

First off Whatever Gorebash, and the draft is being reinstated too right.
Second,This could have been handled differently by these kids. For example they could've started a rumor that a bunch of white kids wwere going to hang themselves, or at least fight 6 on 6. No, it had to be 6 on 1. Here in Summit county that's considered a gang, and holds much stiffer penalties.

Those 6 kids were wrong, but they do not deserve to be charged with Attempted Murder and anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously a Conservative Republican who voted for George W. Bush and supports the Preemptive Invasion and Occupation of Iraq.

The prosecutor is clearly a racist, and so are the people who are defending him.
