I use to watch American Idol but no longer , I am so upset about people are so eager to help other countries by building school, helping with medical...Well how many different countries have come over here to help our country? These people need to get the priotrity straight, if they have all that money then why not build a building or two for the  homeless, or bigger buidling for the BATERIED WOMENS of AMerica, or help the childrens home, seeing how they never have any money and are always short on funds. I see these Americans busting over backwards to help the other countries when WE  AMERICANS NEED this kind of help also, so in conclusion let me just say this....American "NO" Idol !!!!!!!

If you watched the show, they are also helping kids in our country. Also, what those kids are suffering over there goes BEYOND anything close to it in this country. And last, then don't donate to this cause if you don't like it, Donate to whatever your favorite charity is.

what puzzles me is, for example Survivor has donated all the proceeds from eBay auctions they hold after a contest ends towards the fight of AIDS in Africa.
and for the past years of countless commercials on TV for donations to Adopt a kid, Feed a Kid, Cloth a kid, Sponsor a kid, give medical aid to a kid.
"Your dollar donation can feed a kid for a week"
" 25 cents can give Little zomba the medical attention he needs"
there has to been TONS of American money Funneled into Africa for AID Relief, But yet to watch American Idols Portrayal It seems not one Penny of Anything has ever reached these People.
What up with that ??? Are we feeding some rich people and Con Artist instead??

Regarding Idol and giving to other countries, apparantly the writer missed the news of today, where the US turned down or did not accept aid from other countries at the time of hurricane Katrina. The US has not finished responding to the victims. And all that is being offered is lame excuses.

The U.S. aid to Katrina victims would have helped more had so many people not used their government-issued debit cards for plastic surgery and porn. It's sad that while so many people in the US and overseas need help, scumbag people will exploit that to the degree where many folks are turned off about charitable giving.
You may indeed feel that it's more important to take care of our own, but it is ABSOLUTLEY true that we have the "richest poor people" in the world. My sister-in-law lives in public housing, and her neighbors (more than one) have big screen TVs, PS3s, tricked-out cars, and lots of other luxuries that even I don't have. I'm not saying that everyone in public housing has these, but there are some issues with what "necessities" charitable and govermnent assistance money (our tax dollars) ends up paying for. Some people feel that the money sent to Africa actually goes further towards schools, water, food, and REAL necessities. Sad but true.

The real problem is that Americans are more concerned with voting for an Idol and not with voting for the best President in 2004, we would not be in the mess in Iraq if people would pay attention to the government and not on dumb television shows.

If you vote for Idols and not in real elections then you are not doing your duty as a citizen! You should be ashamed about all the time you take throughout your day to watch and talk about vapid topics like Sanjaya's haircut and not about the 3000+ Americans killed in Iraq, the tens of thousands injured not counting the Iraqis themselves. Wake Up! Everybody stop and look what's going on!

Just because SOME of us don't vote does not mean we don't care about our country. Why vote on someone who will lie just to get their seat in the office??? Promises have been said but nothing has been done about it.
Also,These so called charities have been going on for many years.Which they have received millions and millions of dollars. Now why is it that these countries are still suffering without food, water, medical help, clothing, schooling ect.??????

People fought and died so you could vote, and you choose not to do so. That's your right not to, but it isn't something to be proud of. Voting is a social responsibility of all citizens to at the very least, prevent bad folks from getting into government. Apathy is not a solution to problems in life. Imagine if people during the 50s and 60s said that about Segregation. When the government is doing wrong, it is our responsiblity to fix it.

Gorbash, I agree that we would be a "truer" democracy if more people voted. I would like to say that not only is voting a social responsibility of the citizens, but being informed is a responsibility of ALL voters. I can't stand people who vote solely on party lines or let "someone else" decide for them and just vote as they're told.
Regarding "Idol:" Read my bio. That sums my feelings on this up pretty well.
