This is so scary, when i read about a local teen bringing a gun,to school,my first thougt was "oh my god,i hope no one was hurt, then panic rose because my best friend;s son goes to this school,i was able to reach her she said he was alright and it was scary.  this has hit close to home, and now i wornder "what kind of precautions does my kids school take" I would like to say the the staff of willoughby sout high, and the willoughby police dept.did a excellent job,of defusing what could of been a much worse scernio.  also my prayers go with and out to the family of the student,as well as him himself  it is very good that he is going to get the help that he needs.

Every school in America is going to have to install metal detectors and search these undeveloped humans we call teenagers. Yes, it's time to turn schools into prisons.

It's a scary thought to be 14 yrs old & having to get strip searched before school starts!!!! But this concept is much better than having young children/teachers innocently killed. Dang those darn kids ruining it for the others.... I still agree that it all begins @ home w/the discipline of the parents!

lucky, you are partially right about the parents, but sometimes a kid is suffering too........and the parents should be paying attention & getting the kid the help they need.

MOST of these kids that do this are hurting, desperate, etc etc over lots of things sometimes.

i went to that high school many moons ago....never in my wildest imagination did i think it could happen THERE.

i feel sorry for that kid and am glad he didn't hurt himself or others.

dprin339! You are right. So many kids are going through hell and are depressed. Parents should really pay attention to their child's behavior. There are signs, even if they are subtle. I'm very glad this didn't turn out worse, and it could have. He was obviously very depressed over something or a multitude of things. My son is 24 now, but he also went to that school. It's a good school, but metal detectors, they should be put in. I wonder if they will after this. I sure hope he gets the help he needs. God Bless him and his family. They say he was a good kid,no problems with him, I don't think up until now.

No problem, lostinohio! Now that I think about it, I do remember them saying probably no detectors. Unless necessary? Do they need someone to get killed before they decide it's necessary? They shouldn't wait for a tragedy, before they decide.
