A great version of Silent Night

If your just starting to venture into the Christmas Music scene for this year please check out this song.
The band is Mercyme and their a christian music band. I don't listen to them much but I love their version of Silent Night. It starts with a accoustic guitar and the singer. With each following verse another accoustic is added until it's full blown. The vocals are awesome and the music brings it all together.
I Love this song.
Austin City Limits last night.

I watched the show and actually programmed my cable box to remind me at 9:00 it was on. The show was Brad Paisley and he's one of the current Country performers I like. His songs are fun and some have deep meanings. His guitar work was very impressive and he seems to be what is good about todays Country Performers:
Clean, Honest hard working stars who don't forget where they came from.
A personal favorite was played last night:
"When I get where I'm going". The song has a great verse:
"I'm gonna walk with my Grand Daddy and he'll match me step for step. I'll tell him how I've missed him every minute since he left. And then I'll hug his neck"
How many of us have memories of a Papa that we miss so much. I personally think of my Grandfather so much that this verse rings so true. He passed 38 years ago when I was 5 years old and I would do anything to see him again and walk with my first buddy. I can relate to Hugging a Neck as that's what I get from my little ones every night when I get home from work.
Certain verse's from songs stick with me and can be brought front and center at anytime. this is one of them.

It was Decemeber 21st 1989 and I was between jobs and it was a cold winter day. I decided to attempt a recording of the " Captain Ken Shelton's Big Top 10 Countdown" which was a regular feature on WBCN in those days. Charles Laquardera had Misougatch and Captain Ken had the countdown and Mark Parenteau had a 3 the comedy at 5:00. It was a great station and the lineup was solid.
I had my 90 minute tape ready to go and was lucky enough to turn the radio on at around 11:30 as the countdown started early much to my surprise. I hit my record button and the rest is history. It has songs that aren't heard much these days and some that we're jusr on the cusp of hitting the Christmas music scene. Here's the list:
20: The Stools- (BCN' garage band) Santa's Attitude.
19: Keith Richards- Run Run Rudolph.
18: Elton John- Step Into Christmas.
17: Bodines- Chistmas Time.
16: Kate Bush- December Will Be Here.
15: Band Aid- Do They Know It's Christmas?.
14: Bob And Doug- 12 Days Of Christmas.
13: Bing and Bowie- Little Drummer Boy/ Peace On Earth.
12: Eagles- Please Come Home For Christmas.
11: Elmo and Patsy- Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.
10: Jethro Tull- Christmas Song.
9: Billy Squire- ( I didn't write the title).
8: Pretenders- 2000 Miles.
7: John Lennon- War Is Over.
6: U2- Christmas Baby Please Come Home.
5: Greg Lake- ( I didn't write the title)
3: Springsteen- Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.
2: Kinks- Father Christmas.
AND #1
Waitresses- Christmas Wrapping.
I missed a song when I re-recorded the tape in 1996 but the song is on the tape I just didn't write it on the song list. The recording is raw and pure right off the Radio and I had to time the tape flip so I wouldn't miss any songs. It has a lot of Captain Kens insights on the songs and is a very cool look back to a different time for BCN'.
Now for my Dilemma:
Where can I have this tape converted onto a CD? I'm afraid to put it into my tape player as I don't want to risk ruining this treasure of my Christmas collection. Does anyone know where this can be converted? Are there any BCN' fans that remember this era of the stations history? I was 25 and it was a great time for Boston Rock.
The Fools April Fools shows at the Channel we're awesome.
Any help on my dilemma would be greatly appreciated.

I got into Bruce in the early 80's and saw my first ever concert in Worcester on the Born in the U.S.A tour. I can't beleive it's been 25 years and now they are getting back together for the first time in 5 years. It's such a different world from those easy going drive all night times and the new release will be interesting.
I like the blue collar songs and songs with meaning.
Factory, Promised Land, Racing in the Streets, Wreck on the Highway, One Step Up and all of The Rising. So many and too many to list.
Songs like those are what makes me look forward to the new Album/CD in October.
I'm Married with 2 kids so my concert days are long gone due to the prices but I will buy the new release the day it comes out.
