What the H E double L  is going on in todays world?

The hype of Black Friday is getting a little over the top when human lives are being lost. Walmart was running radio ads early Thanksgiving week promoting a great price on a very limited number of sale items. One ad was for a 32 inch LCD TV for around $300.00 and their were only 5 with no rain checks. That could explain the poor associate being TRAMPLED to death as the customers forced open the stores doors. The herd of so called bargain hunters had one thing one their collective minds: I want that TV and I'll do whatvever I have too to get it. The thought of having a human lying on the floor being trampled on is too horrendous for me to comprehend.

Then in California two people argue over a sale item and shots are fired in the stores aisle. SHOTS ARE FIRED!. Two peolpe are dead. Is this insane? I believe the deceased were women and most ikely they were Mothers. If so the children left behind will not have their Mommy's for Christmas and the rest of their lives....for what? A couple hundred dollars saved on a great priced sale item?

The animalistic thrill of the hunt has taken over in todays society and it sends the human compassion one might have out the window. I for one tend to have a little more patience when I get to a parking lot. I tend to stop and allow a car to make a left hand turn in front of me in the holiday season. We only have a month to  practice random acts of kindness during the holidays and hope it can carry over into the new year. A song lyric comes to mind:

"Come on people now smile on you're Brother, everybody get together try to love one another right now"

Lafko, unfortunately, it isn't even the thrill of the hunt driving people to be like this during the holidays. It's a carried over amplification of most people's attitudes during the rest of the year: "You can come first, AFTER me."

Wonder if WalMart is going to be hyping such insane deals next Black Friday?

Xantun.

It is a sad reality of people's attitudes in todays world. It can be as simple as not holding a door open for a lady or driving like a jerk in traffic. The attitude does run rampant.

Graham.

Amen to that brother.

Um, wait, Graham, I know this one...It's Kmart's right? (Sarcasm, since it's the only holiday they're closed anymore)

Lafko, and the problem is that this time of year, these "awesome" bargains amplify this attitude. Sorry, but even if those TVs were a penny each, the behavior seen this past Friday is COMPLETELY un-called for. And, did either of you notice that most people interviewed (that I saw, anyway) on Black Friday were actually buying stuff for themselves, and not presents for others? Even sadder.

"Humanity" at it's lowest. The difference between these so called people and savage animals can only be detected by someone with a more sophisticated eye than mine

I'll stick to the internet. No one can trample or shoot me on the internet.

Xantun.

My favorite thing to do at Christmas is to give presents. I seem to fall into the "It's better to give than to recieve" category.

June.

I aggree completely with the internet idea. We already have 2 solicitations in our inbox for Toys R Us and KB Toys for deep discounts and free shipping. Tech Monday is right around the corner.

Lafko, I'm with you about the giving thing. It really is much better than getting stuff. I love seeing the look on peoples' faces when they open what I've given them. For some people, it's so fun to see, I have a hard time actually waiting until Christmas to give their presents to them!

June, no, you won't get trampled or shot, but watch out when your packages are due to arrive. Creeps are stealing them already this year. Teach Pocket to open the door and sign for the packages. ;-)

Firearm violence has become 24/7/365 and will only end when responsible third parties, armed and trained, intervene in the interest of decency and justice.

But as long as we blame the inanimate object, and give a "mulligan" to the people, it's only getting worse.

I love the country life. My wife has numerous flower beds and a vegetable garden. Our kids have plenty of room to roam on our property and our 2 Labs love to bark at the wild Turkeys that make their rounds every day. I work 8 miles from home and don't miss the hustle and bustle of growing up in Newton.
