The Rays had their shot at the Pennant and Maddon shuffled his staff. He out managed  himself by thinking Kazmir could win at Fenway and then have Shields rested for the World Series. There is only one problem to his thinking.......he had to beat the World Champs and it's now a winner take all game. His bullpen is in bad shape with Howell and Balfour not producing for the second straight game. The two studs from the pen threw a lot of pitches in game 6 and may not be at even 75% if called on in game 7. The Rays defense is shaky and everyone wearing the Rays uniform seems to be feeling the enormity of the situation.

Francona and the Sox are in better shape. He has a better rested pen to go too if needed and the Rays can't touch his closer. Paplebon is dominating the Rays hitters and his confidence is bubbling over. Game 7 is going to be a 6 inning game for the Sox. get out and score early and score again. Have Lester shut down the tentative Rays bats and take the lead into the 7th. Lester can hopefully get into the 7th and then the combination of Okie, Masterson and Paplebon are waiting in the wings. Delcarmen has some filthy stuff but is still too erratic. Lopez is a situational lefty so it's basically him against Pena if he pitches.

The Sox have the winning pitcher from last years World Series clinching game tonight and the Rays have a human spit bomb who apparently has some nervous tendencies. Garza is in the biggest game of his life at home in front of a raucous crowd. If he struggles early and the Trop goes silent he'll have plenty to deal with. The Sox batters are very patient and work counts so if Garza isn't pinpoint with his control his pitch count will build forcing Maddon to tap his already tired pen. The one pitcher who hasn't thrown much in the series is Pryce a young fireball who was in AA ball up until September. Will Maddon have the gumption to call on the young kid?

Prediction: Red Sox:12   Tampa Bay Rays: 4

In defense of Kazmir, he pitched shut out ball.
Probably either guy was being pulled at this point in the game.

Madden forgot what the sox are able to do. He probably should have left kazmir in until his arm fell off. Imagine what is being said by teh tampa fans.

Alex Cora gets the start tonight.

It doesn't matter who he put in or how he shuffled.

They are toast so stick a fork in them --cuz they are done done done...

I am so nervous I haven't even been able to eat! It's do or die tonight!! IF there is cause for celebration, I will be on the boards tonight after the game.

I agree with Elite, Kazmir did his job and the bullpen blew it. Maddon SHOULD have left him in there until his arm fell off. But....woulda, coulda, shoulda....too late now. Now they face us in a game 7 and regardless the result, this is something they did NOT want to see.

Pray that we are victorious, guys! :)

June: Madden is kind if the opposite of Grady Little.

Theo is the best and he will prove it tonight.
He knows the pitchers and seems to make all the right decisions with them.

I wonder what show will pop up tonight? Hogan's Heroes?

lafko,
Feel free to delete the political intruder that keeps popping up like a troll on every post.

Elite,
Sad, sad for us. But I still love my boys. You and I had many conversations about this. Did either of us have any hope that they'd make it this far back in August?

See, I always had the suspicion that tampa fans would be petty and classless, but haroldtampa just confirmed it.

Thank you haroldtampa for that clarification. Very valuable for future reference.

Boston fans complaining about being petty and classless. Priceless!! Well at least you have the Patriots. Oh wait.

Tampa "Fans" pretending to be "fans". Priceless.

We'll still be here long after you go back to dwelling in the basement.

My worst fears were confirmed in game 7. The lack of the big hit cost the Red Sox a trip to the Series. Game 6 was a couple hits awat from a blowout and then last night's game was there foe the taking and no hits were gotten.

June.

Harold gets his chance to gloat but just don't get used to it guy. The Rays caught a semi flat Red Sox team that faced decent pitching in game 7.

Good luck in the Series and I hope the Rays can seal the deal.

You keep telling yourself that. Maybe someone will believe it.

lafko,

I find it so sad that he feels the need to keep coming back here. That the Rays winning is not enough for him. When the Sox won in 2004 & 2007, NY and Cleveland fans were the furthest things from my mind. I was all wrapped up in the joy of our win.

Sad.

Like no Boston fans have talked trash about the Rays in ten years. Man up and take your own medicine. Start by getting off your high horse and realize you got beat by the better team. In the season and playoffs. The Rays will be just as good or better for a few years. You honestly can't say you didn't expect Rays fans to be here to gloat. That is what your city is famous for. It goes both ways. Even the Yanks admitted the AL East is too tough. Why did the Sox fans stop showing up at the Trop mid-season? I wonder.

I love the country life. My wife has numerous flower beds and a vegetable garden. Our kids have plenty of room to roam on our property and our 2 Labs love to bark at the wild Turkeys that make their rounds every day. I work 8 miles from home and don't miss the hustle and bustle of growing up in Newton.
