being an employee at a fast food restaurant i would like to inform my not so lovely customers, that only come in to complain, of something.

yes i understand that i am there for the customer but i am only human and only have two hands. if i give you the wrong burger when it was the people in the back that had messed it up please do not come in yelling at me. as an order taker i do not have any control over what goes on in the back.

i have had a lady come in and order and i was waiting for both her order and the order before her and she got upset when she saw i was taking care of the other order, THE ORDER THAT WAS PLACED BEFORE HERS, when she did get upset i went and got what i could of her order and then i ended up finishing both at the same time. i took the orders to the counter and i gave her hers first in hopes she would leave and then i gave the very kind and very patient guys their food....while she was still standing there....then she went off because even though i gave her a sausage mcmuffin (she wanted a sausage mcmuffin with egg, you do have to specify) so i went back to get her the correct sandwich, i didn't argue, when i got back she said "and why is it that you took forever to get my food"
i informed her that i had an order before hers and she went off again " your lying your lying its bad enough that you did what you did but then to lie to me afterwards."
just as a hint ppl.......when someone from a fast food restaurant tells you "have a nice day" after you have been nasty. it means "get out now before i call my manager over here."

and along with all of this i would like to thank all of the customers who are actually calm and collected when they have something wrong with their order and to the ones who are just patient altogether.

I commend ANYONE who works in the food service industry - you can never make EVERYONE happy and there are always a few who are having a bad day and take it out on you. Keep up your good spirit and don't let the bastardds get you down!

It's the industry's fault. They advertise this expectation that customers will get their orders in 10 seconds. Next time tell the customer, "If you want it faster, tell the company to pay me more than minimum wage. Now, here's your cholesterol burger you fat F...".

Oh, I can relate to this soooo well. I worked for a McDonald's owner/operator for 15 years. I was both a store manager and finally an area supervisor before calling it quits and finding my career (out of the food industry). I would always go above and beyond for the person who would come in with a legitimate complaint but handle it in a respectable manner. Those that would yell and scream made me want to not fix the problem as well as jump over the counter at them. Of course I had to still be upbeat and apologize up and down which was very difficult to do sometimes. Here's a story that relates very much to what the post was saying: We had a guy come in almost daily and order a "sausage mcmuffin". The ladies at the counter would politely ask "would you like that with or without egg". (Many will just say "sausage mcmuffin" when they actually mean "sausage mcmuffin w/ egg".) The guy was rude everytime and would come back with "are you deaf?? I said Sausage mcmuffin!". One day I had jumped on a register because lines were growing and unknown to me, the guy was in my line. He gave me the same sh**. I explained why we ask and that we are just trying to assure he gets what he wants. He told me to shut up and just get his order. I took out my keys, closed the register and told him he is no longer welcome at this location and to please leave! My owner backed up my decision. What ever happened to treating others as you would want to be treated? If I go into a restaurant now and there is something wrong I always point it out in a polite way and the problem is resolved

Thats why I dont go to mcdonalds. You gonna be stuck in that job a lifetime with your attitude. When i order a fish sandwich, i dont want cheeze on it, so dont take it off and try and sell me that sandwich, i want one made. Also what the hell do you think your manager gonna do? you would be on your way home if it was me, so suck it up and do your job. Sounds like you just got out of high school.

yes i am just out of high school but that doesnt mean that i am not experienced in this. my only question for you is did you ever work at a fast food restaurant? with your attitude most likely not. i make sandwiches to order and most defiantly when it is a special order. if you have an issue with your sandwich then take it to the counter and, in a respectable manner, ask for the MISTAKE to be corrected. if thats to hard....go to wendys.

dickblack, one of the huge problems with the industry is, they don't hire enough staff to do the job the right way. So, the workers there, have to do the job of 2 people. Hence, the workers really don't care if you get your order the right way cause they bustin they're behinds. So, call McDonalds corp office and tell them to stop worrying about the bottom line and get some help for these poor slobs.

and my manager would have helped by taking care of the issuer herself because hummm...... thats what she is payed to do. im not payed to deal with customers attitude. im payed to take an order and hand it out... so why dont you come and walk one day in my shoes and i will love to see how you deal with people leaning over the counter yelling and screaming at you.......
and no thats not an exaggeration.

so who is it again that needs to suck it up me or the customer that takes advantage of "the customers always right" just to make someone else's life crappy in order to make them happy.

It's a shame people can be so rude.

but question, do you route any criticism to the people that make the food?

well if you are asking me plz look at my third comment (not including the blog)

the managers are the ones who are payed to take care of issues

I AM ONLY PAYED TO TAKE THE ORDERS AND HAND THE FOOD OUT.

basicly what im saying, if i havent been clear yet, i am not permitted to confront the workers in the back and nor are the customers.......THAT IS THE MANAGERS JOB!!!!

Listen up kid, Im retired from RTA and i had to deal with folks for 25 years, and no, i never worked with fast food. Im still telling you to shut that mouth, do your job, or you are going to be stuck in that profession all your life. Mcdonalds is like buying your first house, just a stepping stone to better things, so like i said, shut up, and take those orders.

i do believe that was harsh of u db,it may be her job to take the orders, but she should not have to put up with being yelled at for something that she has no control over,

i honestly love ppl and this is the exact thing i am talking about. and fyi you may be some old funk but you havent had experience in my line of work. i go through hell every day and i do stay quiet while i am there.....just to keep my job because i need the money. i do not appreciate being told to shut up and that is the stuff that would get you kicked out of a business. it is called verbal abuse and managers do not take lightly to it. your user name fits you quite well to. your a dick and im very sorry but you are rude and very obnoxious. i dont care what you did or how long youve been around....until you can prove to me that someone has the right to yell and scream at anyone and call them names i honestly do not want to hear what you have dealt with because its obviously not enough!!!

and thank you again LOSTINOHIO!! :-)

Have Any Of These Ever Happened To You?
# Getting ridiculous refund requests from customers (and you know it IS ridiculous).
# For anyone selling products on ClickBank: you have people getting refunds for no disclosed reason. They got their money back AND your product.
# Get unpleasant emails from customers who are making unreasonable requests from your product or service that you render.
# Have customers who are quick to label you as a con-man before you could move a finger and are threatening to defame or sue you.
# Non-paying customers asking you a lot of questions via helpdesk or email.
# People buying your product with the intention of forcing you to do a Joint Venture with them, and on their terms, because they are already your customers therefore it seems obligatory.

If you answered YES to any of the above - high five, we’re on the same boat. NO? You’re either super lucky… or you’re not making any solid money yet.
