On December 12th, the new version of the Day the Earth Stood Still opens nation wide.  It looks like it will be a powerhouse of a movie and I for one am looking forward for this.

In another time (1951), the orignal version of The Day The Stood Still was making it's run in theaters.   In real life other countries were making threats and trying to flex some muscles with the United States.  It was the time of the Korean conflict and soon the Soviet Union would try to make us blink.  Along comes this movie where a space ship from another planet lands on what was the Mall in Washington D.C.

This little movie without it's special effects of 2008 shows what happens when people are quick to over react to something or someone that is different.   If you never have seen or even never heard of this movie how lucky for you that AMC will be showing it on 12/11 @ 8-10 PM,  and once more on 12/12 @ 3:30-5:30 PM.   This is a classic 4 star movie that coincides with the opening of the more modern and glitzier version.  Set the TIVO's or DVD's.  Get the Popcorn out, gather the kiddies around and sit and watch as a family.  This could even be turned into a valuable lesson about tolerance.  Enjoy!!!!
