Ok, I read some comments and I will agree that this did start before Bush but this is his administration and the thought of domestic policy is minute in comparision to his invasion decision on and in Iraq and other foreign policy matters.

I also agree that we need to make the availbilty of hybrid cars to all and affordable. This would be a BIG start. Also, we have current that are availble to all are energy saving appliances.

I have three of those. A stove, refridgerator, and dishwasher. I also save by using energy saving bulbs. Yes, the money upfront is more but the savings comes in the use.

Until next time/gb

The United States is behind most of the world when it comes to greenhouse gases. We are one of the few countries that has yet to ratify the Kyoto Agreement. What is the Kyoto agreement? For those that don't know..

The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement made under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Countries that ratify this protocol commit to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases, or engage in emissions trading if they maintain or increase emissions of these gases.

The Kyoto Protocol now covers more than 160 countries globally and over 55% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The United States has signed this agreement, but at this time has no intention of ratifying it.

So all I can say is, lets not wait for our government to do something to make our planet safer. Every individual can and should do what they can to help. And there are many many ways each person can help cut greenhouse emissions without spending a lot of money.

Websites I would recommend to learn more are...

http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/default.asp
http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/index.cfm

These are just a couple, but you can find many more if you look. As I said, every person could help just a little, and if every person did a little, it would add up to a lot.

There was a show on national geo the other night. They stated they were told to downgrade the real effects of global warming. Now they are speaking up due to greenland fast melt. They can no longer downgrade it.

The bad thing is they were told to downgrade the global warming to everyone. Now it is happening so quickly. The same message was on the science channel and on the national geo the other evening.

How sad it is, everyone getting so excited, and yet concerned only about who will become the next American Idol. Hybred cars, wind generators, light bulbs, ad nausium. The bottom line to the global warming issue is the bottom line. We as a people go to work every day, and our work is dependent upon all that is necessary for us to do our work. Take away our tools and we cease to exsist.

Speaking in American interests, the Kyoto Protocol is an absolute joke. Those who criticize President Bush for not signing it should know that it would absolutely cripple our economy while other nations prospered. The hypocracy of the protocol gives different standards. Yeah, that's right. America would be heald to more restrictions while Asian and European countries slide right through. And as far as I'm concerened, our attention SHOULD be on the war on terror. It's already been said that there's nothing we can do about global warming, nothing! So you can buy your hybrid cars and you can stop bathing for weeks at a time but it's still isn't going to change a thing.

lets face it, global warming is here to stay. The U.S. is the only country that can afford the changes necessary to help alter the current couse. The Chinese and any other third world contries could give a rats ass about it beacause their too busy trying to feed their masses, or wipe out there own populations through genocide. This will take a world initiative, and aint no way ya gonna get it!

China and India are two of the world's most prosperous and up and coming countries. They can afford to make the same changes that the world wags their finger at the U.S. over.

Your right, we may as well all just burn tires, waste electricity, forget about recycling, and all get gas guzzling SUV's. We're just wasting our time thinking we can make a difference. The he11 with the environment. Lets just kill off all the animals while we are at it so we can quit hearing about the endangered species. We may as well go ahead and drill out all the National Parks for oil and coal. They are of no real use to us. Just wasted space. And with out the animals we won't need them anyhow.

And lets forget about health insurance and medical care. We are just wasting our time with that too, because everyone is going to die anyhow.

Well, you all go right ahead and forget about global warming, and just keep right on thinking there is nothing we can do. I for one will do what I can to help the environment. Maybe by myself I can't stop global warming. BUT, my grandkids won't be able to point their finger at me and ask why.

HELLOOOOOO?!?! There is NOTHING no one can do no matter how much everyone "pitches in!" I'm not say to just tarnish the earth, but to suggest ridiculous ideas as to sign onto Kyoto, even after all of the negative points for this country have been exposed, is just silly. And what's the matter with SUV's? They're family friendly and spacious. I'm sorry not everyone falls into the cult of driving cars that you can barely fit into. Oil dependence is another interesting point you brought up. So you believe we should be dependent on the Saudis and Venezualans for oil? I'm all for finding new energy solutions, but for now, oil is what makes this world spin. Take your head out of the sand because if our government implemented your way of life, we'd all be living in little grass huts.
