Just read the plain dealer report on sean leverts death. What a sad thing. Now his widow has a federal lawsuit for wrongful death, and she will win hands down. And with that, we as taxpayers must foot the bill again. I bet sherrif mcfauls son, with his crack smokin behind got better treatment after his withdraw from the effects of the crack.Clearly mr leverts rights were violated. Look for a big payout by the county on our behalf. Forget the medical mart, covention center, and other county projects, they are going to need that money to pay the levert family. And how come the mayor aint said anything about this? Im sick and tired of my money being used by these buffoons as commishners. Im all for reform, that man should have been takin care of when he was being booked. Three weeks to see a doctor or nurse, thats insane. And they say its nobodys fault, they are all at fault the moment that man entered the jail. You people in county goverment better find a way to use our money wisely instead of paying off lawsuits and buying busted up buildings. Now us taxpayers are going to be shelling out millions, and thats not including the high priced lawyers you are going to need if you fight this. Pay the family, save us some money, take a long look at your jail policies and make changes. I know its for punisment, but that man did not have to die.

For once I agree with you dick. :-)
NO ONE should be denied there meds. They were prescribed. It's not like he was a junkie and needed a fix.

Didn't mean to upset you dickblack but that's the ugly truth. Apparently from what I've heard about the jail and an inmate's meds is: jail policy is such that they don't have to supply you with your meds for like a week or two. Obviously that's unacceptable. If your on meds and you go to jail yer screwed. The county will have to pay Levert's family millions to change that policy. Whereas before this incident, it would have cost nothing. Talk to the sheriff, he's in charge.

My boyfriend spoke out about this because he was on the same pod as Sean and he saw the pain and withdrawl he was going through and the one night I was on the phone with him and heard Sean walking around the pod during one of the hallucinations. My boyfriend told the CO's and they did nothing and he even talked to one of the Seargants and nothing was done for him. He is having a real hard time with this and we are hoping that the Levert family gets some justice. They have lost so much in the last few years and my heart aches for what they have gone through.

Cuyahoga County is the only jail that has the "no meds until you see a doctor in 2 week" rule. Cincinnati and Columbus don't have that. If you are taken to jail and have presciption meds your doctor is called immediatly and you are given your meds but not here in Cleveland, they would rather you die i guess. Our "mayor" who isn't worth crap, won't comment on this because he knows it's wrong, Mcfaul is trying to cover his own BLEEP so he won't comment because nothing they say can justify what happend. The Levert family is defiantly in my prayers, I hope that God eases their pain and gives them some sense of peace.

This is so sad a life that could have been saved if only a man were given his PRESCRIPTION meds. Is a person who suffers panic attacks less deserving of his meds (Xanex) than a diabetic is deserving of his insulin? Do they deny diabetics insulin too? Who are these people in the sheriff's department, devoid of any medical degree, that believe that they can withhold prescribed meds from a person just because he is in their custody? I hope that the Lavert family not only wins their lawsuit but I hope that they are prosecuted criminally for negligent homicide!

ricky....sometimes bad things do happen to good people. People make mistakes and SOME of them do take responsibility for their actions and deal with the concequences and then move on with their lives and try to be better people.
