Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran(?), not sure who else. Let's start with Iraq. Their government says they want us to keep our troops there? Then we should require that they fund it from now on. Real simple. Now that we got them started off and they have a government AND THEY still want us there, then it should not cost US taxpayers a dime. I believe the Holy Qur'an would back me up on this. Nowhere does it allow good muslims to impose on the people who they want protecting them... Afghanistan. We did not assist them as well as we should have, to be self supporting. They may not have mineral/oil wealth to sustain them. People like to eat, wear clothes and give their children gifts. It is natural that they would do whatever they have to do to continue to do this. Iran, since it became a republic(?) has often stated they don't like us and they don't like Isreal. They are a seperate country and have the right to like or dislike who they choose. No one will ever prevent a country from developing nuclear weapons. Our country has and the former USSR has had a great deal of experience regarding the costs and the dangers. AND WE STILL HAVE THEM!!! All the politicos are doing is creating a smoke screen to blind us regular people from what they are really up to!! Pakistan. They don't want foreign troops operating on their sovereign soil. I absolutely can not understand why my country the USA doesn't understand this. Anybody recall Panco Villa and Mexico, it was almost the same thing. We wanted to send troops into Mexico to capture the guy!!! Having that historical example should have at least given some of the lawyers in Washington DC a clue!!! TERRORISM and TERRORISTS= no one wants them! Utillizing the UN and Diplomacy we could combine with Pakistan and Afghanistan and ALL OTHER NATIONS IN/ON/AND AROUND this world to sweep the areas on both Pakistan and Afghanistan doing a very thorough job and not stepping on the sovereignity of any nation. Capture those known terrorists and try them in a World court IN PAKISTAN, under WORLD LAWS. Showing RESPECT for that country! It's all about respecting other people, their religions, their rights, their sovereignity(sp?). There are laws. If they aren't adequate then the WORLD needs to make some more... That's it. Dave

I have watched both candidates and their VP choices. I read the news. I support neither of these two and I am a registered Republican. This will be the first time in my life that I have ever chosen not to vote! Yet I agree that it seems the unknown people who conspire to guide every election, have chosen Mr. Obamma to be our next president and the masses have bought all this and taken sides. During every election I have witnessed the anger that people have when someone chooses the 'wrong' person to vote for, wrong as in not being the one they wanted. Today we no longer have the manners that our forefathers had, and accept without a whimper someone elses right to vote for who they choose. No we get down right mad! When the candidate that is selected by the electoral college does something wrong we ferret out those people who voted the popular vote of their choice, and give them hell! I would like to have a write in vote. I would like to vote for someone who is poor and who is living on public assistance and forced to seek out every free source they can to survive. I don't even care if they are addicted to illegal drugs, which is odd for me to say. Because I think, even someone like that would be a better choice than these two losers!!! Or maybe we should all have a grassroots style candidate, maybe Paris Hilton wouldn't mind if we seriously wrote her in? Personally I think she is the best choice. Anyway, she looks real good!
God help us! We are what the communists and others have called us. We are the blind, the opiated masses, following whoever the 'unknowns' choose for us, doing whatever they direct us to. Dave

I want to say something about these kids who are having sex at a early age. Like real early, eight to sixteen... I have read and heard news stories where they are sending pornographic pictures of themselves to each other (sometimes, certainly, I hope, not all engage in this). I read where children were giving their boyfreinds 'oral' in the school hallways, somewhere in Ohio... (Eiyewwww!) I have heard from people who say it is ok, even legal for children to engage in sex as long as they are within four years of each other. I have also heard of the boy who just turned eighteen and who got his fourteen or sixteen year old girlfreind pregnant and who was prosecuted and jailed, and is now listed as a sexual predator. Despite both parents vain attempts at disuading the judge and jury from this, as these two children would one day be married. I have read of female and male teachers having sex with their young and teenage students. I have read of people promoting contraceptives for children, and those deploring it and offering abstinence instead. I have heard people say, kids will engage in sex, because this is natural curiosity. So they feel it should be ok. I have read of young girls going thru puberty at a very early age! I have fought the good fight and raised my voice and computer keys in outrage over child pornography and watched the world find newer and more secretive ways to pander it. I have watched news stories where people have traveled hundreds of miles to have sex with a child! People who had children of their own! I also watched news stories of people going to other countries to engage in sex with children! I am appalled! Truly!
But I don't know what to do about it all! My thoughts are jumbled and confused. For I am one adult who would rather children not be allowed to engage in sex, at all! Their bodies aren't ready for it. Pregnancy would drain the nutrients their own bodies need to grow! It seems though, that the rest of society disagrees with me. Children may not smoke or drink, or use drugs; as they will be prosecuted for that. However; they can have all the sex they want, catch std's like everyone else and develope their experience. Yeah. The rest of America and the world IN MANY WAYS, has said it is ok! So my reply is then why even bother with all the other stuff? You know, pornography, pedophiles, etc...? I mean, if you think it is ok for a eight or ten year old boy to make a eight or ten year old girl pregnant, then really what is the difference when a man does it? Oh, you may disagree with my opinion that you have said it is ok. Have you ever written a television station, or a blog showing offence when you have watched sexually explicit and exploitive things on tv? or written your politicians about the pandering of sex in advertising? If not, then you have agreed with it. Or denied your children the privellege of watching a movie that has sex in it, or a video game. Then you have agreed with it all!
Oh, I know, you all wish to live the double standard. Are you blind? Have you, however old you are, not seen how this world is? Is it ok? Then why the double standard. Stand up and be counted. You perverts! Why be ashamed. Personally I want to change things. I want kids to be kids. I guess I'm still angry. Usually I don't let it out, or accuse anyone. Well here it is, I've bared my soul. I watched the news as the woman who's child was shot spoke of her loss and of God. She tried to hold back her tears. I have rarely been so moved by a woman. Yes. I agree with her that children ought to have been taught the correct way to treat any gun, found or otherwise. I thought the Cleveland Public school system did that. That police officers visited schools and talked about it. That the NRA who is usually a pain in the arse was sending people to schools to ensure this was done, so that they could continue to say, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people!" I own guns. I keep them locked in a gun safe/locker. My son left my .22 cal pistol out one day, and when his friend came over with his friends, the gun went missing. I was about ready to call the police (which I did about that gun) but to have them pick up the rest! I had told him not to leave it out. Kids! I don't know what to do about them. He was over 21 at the time. They never listen. Guns are so much a part of America that it would be criminal, not naive, to think that we could give up our legal guns and be rid of all the terrible things guns have caused. Believe me. Just look at illegal drugs! They'd be selling illegal guns, more so than they do even now. Today! Children would be killed. Stupid children would mishandle them. Mothers and fathers will cry. Education is all we have. Educate them about safe gun handling and TELLING A ADULT about them! Educate them about drugs!!! Even then, I suspect, that children, our children, all the children, will not comply and there will be deaths. Someone once said to me that killing is easy, and it is, they said; but once that person is dead, you can't bring them back to life!" "There is no OOPS! Sorry!" Let's do that over again. Dead is Dead!!! Dave

Did you hear about the bailout that allowed the business people to spend two weeks in a spa; and it cost over $400,000.00 of our money? It was on the news today. Yeah! Even while the politicians were blowing a lot of hot air at Mr. Fuld. I don't know him, but maybe he should change his name to SCAPEGOAT? I don't know how to fix this humongus problem. Idiot politicians, and spoiled business tycoons??? What to do, what to do??? Hey would somebody ask our politicians if they wouldn't mind giving me about oh, 70 billion dollars??? You see, I'm terrible at finances, and make lots of mistakes with my mortgage and taxes... I really could use a couple of weeks at a spa and then to recouperate from that, maybe a month or two in Las Vegas??? Oh, yeah, and I'd even be willing to answer our politicians questions about how I got into this mess, and I would be really truthfull. Wait, maybe I wouldn't be able to answer those questions right away, I forgot, I've wanted to visit Hawaii, I was there when I was in the Navy, I'd like to see it again now that I am a civillian and could afford to bum around a bit.... After that I'm sure I'd be willing to answer those questions. Well, maybe not right away... There may be a few other places I forgot I wanted to go to, in order to relieve the stress that my own mismanagement has caused me. However; I am sure once the money is gone and I need yet another $70 billion dollar bailout, I'd be more than willing to answer those questions... Although the stress of requesting yet another $70 billion dollars from them may cause me to visit several more places and revisit some of the ones I went to before... Hey! But keep in mind, they can always print more money right??? So don't forget to write your congress/senator person and let them know that Dave here, is looking for a nice bailout. Well I gotta bail,,, buh buh buh byeeeeee!!!

Evel Kneivel and the FBI's Investigations...
Excuse me for the long title. Yes. It appears the FBI was investigating him. I too have been acquainted with some of the results of someone investigating me. My attorney, my doctor, others have asked me or intimated things to me that happened in the so called privacy of my home. When I asked my atty, she said she was not permitted to divulge any information. So I had and have no recourse. Who do I go after? How do I find out who is investigating me and revealing things about my private life? Yes. I even had two people, two strangers, force their way into the magistrates court during my last bankruptcy, and they volunteered quite a bit of private information in front of me to the magistrate. Hey, I got emotional problems, but this is for real! And a little news type investigating could substantiate it, after all, the bankruptcy court was attended by others, not just me. But also, I wonder, how much of our national debt is spent paying for law enforcement people who we truly don't need? Oh, and by the way, they have a excellent retirement which begins at 50 years old! Who justify their existence by investigating anyone and everyone? Who may use the most bizare excuses to justify their salaries? Who is doing the oversight of these people and how is it that the law protects them from the people who they are investigating? I thought the US Constitution protected my privacy, but it appears that these people are immune to those restraints. If I am right, it means that no one is safe from these people. That our lives are always under someone's microscope. That our friends and families and associations are suspect for no REASON at all, other than to satisfy the curiousity of some unknown people! Big Brother is indeed Watchin US! Hey, I'm just letting you know. Ignore it if you wish. I certainly don't know what can be done about it! Dave

I realize that our legislature is going to have to do something to fix this crisis. I still expect that we are in for a Greater Depression. I also feel that if we panic, it will make things worse. People who are better at math and organizing should keep a very close eye on this. Anytime we allowed politicians, Dems or Reps to handle anything larger than 100k, they managed to missmanage millions of dollars. We need lots of accountability here. Certainly I disagree with handing the financiers who got into this mess any money at all. There needs to be something done for home owners and something to prevent the price of houses going down. It is just that I suspect our politicians, mostly people with law degrees, are inept and are unable to fix it.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!

While I sit here typing this, my house is so quiet. My son moved back in with his mother. Ahhhhh! Peace & Quiet!!! I am thinking about writing a book about my experience as a father and divorcee. So I won't go into all the details and complaints. Just wondered about you all, do you have kids? If so are they a pleasure or a pain?

www.hud.gov is a site that lists homes that HUD or the government has had to take over, repossessions(?). You don't have to bid the listed price. There are programs for first time buyers. Almost anyone can afford a house thru HUD. Go there, read up. Any distressed HUD home can be financed (with the repairs financed in the mortgage as well!).
I have no desire to discuss the pro's and con's of buying a repo. I have no desire to argue with those who think they are taking the moral high ground by dis'ing this idea. What I am doing is sharing information so that people who might otherwise have thought they never would have a chance to buy a house, would have some hope. We all need a place to live. For now there are tax breaks and advantages to home ownership.
Of course I have compassion for those who have lost their homes due to foreclosure.

Now that gas is going up again and people are looking for cheaper ways to get to and from work; is anyone writing our politicians to get them to build enough bike paths? I haven't biked in years. Scared! Idiot drivers who have no respect for the laws or other people. They are safe in their cars, too many of my body parts are at risk. I need to lose a huge amount of weight, bicycling might do that, but fear of getting hit by a car or truck has me on the sidelines. No idea where to look for laws regarding bikes riding on the sidewalk, where it is safe for them but may not be safe for pedestrians walking. What to do? Also, too many bike choices. I weigh over 300 lbs and am 5'8" tall. I'd want a all around bike, something that would be ok on the street and on bike paths in the country. Just now thinking about it, may do something about it next summer. Plenty of time then to read up on bikes, bike safety and other issues. Still looking for that perfect club that will answer all my questions. Oh, and I am not willing to pay a huge amount for a first bike right now, after all, I might give it up and paying over $500.00 for a bike seems a bit high. Anyway, I just don't feel like driving my bike to a safe metropark and then taking it off my vehicle to pedal, how far??? Would like to simply pedal to the safe bike path, SAFELY; and then go however far I feel like going. Dave

Did anyone escape the news about AIG, and the other two large industry leaders going belly up? I was watching Bloomberg TV on Dishnet and saw all the red marked stocks (stocks going down in price) flashing across the screen. People are afraid of runs on banks now. Others worry about any money they have in savings. Even I am worried, my retirement check is direct deposited to my bank... Panic historians say, is what created the GREAT DEPRESSION. PANIC. People standing in lines at their banks withdrawing their money. On the Today show, I think, Suzy Orman said it quite simply. Do not put your money in a shoe box under the bed. She even mentioned the doorman in her building who lost quite a few thousands doing that. He was robbed. His home broken into, wonder why?
Things you can and should do. Ever hear of a VICTORY GARDEN? You don't have the space, go to the library and look up container gardening. Almost the same thing. Almost as good. Not acres and acres of crops, but something is better than nothing. Do not panic. If we are all sinking, we can survive if WE STICK TOGETHER. Oh, and don't believe the politicians. Any of them. They do not have any control over this. Only time will heal it. It took time to get us in this predicament and the gullibility of us and our neighbors. It will take time for it to heal. But, yes. I also read that the World banks too are having trouble, everywhere, just like in the days before the Great Depression. Let's try something new here though. Try not panicing. If I can wait it out, so can you.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/13/us/13lottery.html
?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin
If you can, you should read this article. I look at the MSN news from time to time and this got me. Have you ever considered that gambling, like the lottery is an addiction? It is. Behavioral scientists made quite a few studies about things of this sort. They used chickens in one experiment. Every time the chicken pecked, it got a reward, a piece of corn. After the chickens got used to getting the reward, the scientists began to randomly give the reward and deny the reward. The chickens pecked more when they received the rewards randomly. Don't we exhibit the same behaviors? The lottery hype is that you could win millions. The reality is that you could be one of millions of losers! Look at the odds. This works on the nervous system. Just like an addiction does. Our bodies release endorphins when we win, just like when we smoke or drink, or... It feels good. And if it feels good, it must be good, right? Just ask the people on oxygen who have emphasima, and those who have lost loved ones from cancer... The only way to loose an addiction is to go cold turkey. Just don't buy the tickets.
People who smoke and drink frequently, have asked me how it is I am able to afford quite a few luxuries, despite being on a disability pension. I have told them over and over again, don't smoke, put the money that you would pay to buy (a) or several packs of cigarettes a day, a week, away and in time you too can do what I do. It ain't rocket science. The money you are burning up with tobaco adds up. In fact, saving small amounts over time, is the quickest and easiest way to acquire large sums of money. Plus your food will taste better, your lungs will last longer and you may even feel healthier over time. As to drinking, it's basically the same thing. If you have to drink more than two beers to feel it, then you are wasting your money. I have a beer once in a great while, and enjoy it, and stop. There are people who brag about drinking a twelve or twenty four pack before feeling the affects of the alcohol. You think that is a good thing? Think again. Second hand smoke can harm your children. Drunken parents are an embarrassment. Learn to find betters ways for enjoyment. Family get togethers. Playing board games. Talking. Drink plenty of water. Breath deeply and hold it for a eight count a few times, letting your breath out slowly. You'll relax. your brain will have acquired more oxygen than it normally receives. You'll have more money. You won't be seeing a doctor as much. Walk. Meet your neighbors.
Donate that lottery cash to FEED THE CHILDREN which is run by Larry Jones, a minister. You'll always be a winner then.

In the news I read of two 3yo twins having been left in a hot car for two hours, they died of course.
My idea; sensors in the car that set off a loud alarm if someone leaves anything in the back seats when the driver leaves the car. I suppose one could say the driver and the driver side passenger??? Well it would put off putting groceries there etc... but would save lives...
Either that or make intelligence testing madatory for having children(?)

Use the Public Library, (movies, books, cd's, cassets, etc.) also you can have a picnic at the metro parks there are several nice areas and the gas use is minimal. Not free of course, but we all have to eat and picnics are relatively inexpensive. There are also some nifty places to shop. Save-a-lot, Marcs, Aldi's (don't for get the quarter for the cart...) Anyway, I am starting this in hopes that people will add their ideas and suggestions. Dave

RUHWAodFjpNxA For inexpensive eyeglasses. I have purchased the most inexpensive pair at $39.99 and it lasted me for a year. Then I moved up to a few different changes. This most recent pair cost me $278.00 because I got the best quality lenses and transitions too. Still, if you are on a tight budget, they can get you a pair of progressive bifocals for around $40.00! They were good enough for me at the time.
http://www.tenderfootsocks.com/ For the best pair of American made socks that feel and look great. The last six pair I had lasted over six years and are still good, no holes, no signs of wear that I can see. I'm a diabetic, and bought a dozen of diabetic socks from them. Cost me around $12.00 a pair (a bit less than that actually). Really good socks.
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/ Now that the gas crisis is keeping people near home, here is a Travel Trailer site where people sell them used and give helpfull hints and information. These RV's can be towed by most vehicles. I am planning on getting one, maybe a new one at either SCAMP or CASITA. Look them up on Mamma.com's search engine. These come highly recommended.
