Fox 8 weatherman Scott Sabol has some great hurricane information on his blog, but I have one very important question.

When a hurrican is coming why do people do such dumb things?

In New Orleans, people had a week of warnings and they didn't leave.  A few days ago regarding this most recent hurricane in Florida, I saw a guy who was trying to go parasailing on the beach.  The winds not only dragged him across the beach, but across the street.  Now that is a brain surgeon.

What is the point of staying.  If you are told to evacuate, just leave!

More deaths it seems comes from morons who do these things, run Generators indoors, electricity shocks, and staying in Trailers.

I totally agree, cpafrank! If I was there and a hurricane was coming, I'd be out of there in no time. I just don't understand people, and why they put their lives in danger. Why, to see what happens? That guy is lucky he didn't get killed.

It has been proven by scientists, that some people have a "thrill" gene. They get an adrenaline rush from doing something dangerous or death-defying. We see it in the News all the time. Someone climbs up the side of a building with no safety harness, skiers jump out of helicopters down avalanche-prone mountains, some people go surfing in hurricanes!
I guess they just can't help themselves - it;s in their genes!

It's the thrill factor, for sure. I like to be where the "action" is, but don't look for me to strap myself to an oversized kite in the middle of a tropical storm. Last I heard, that guy was still in critical condition.

I wonder how much our insurance premiums go up each time these clods decide to migrate to the storm center......

If there is a "thrill gene", I'd like to know what chromosone pair it's on. Now I do believe that some have plain stupid egos which keep them in harm's way, or that Satan himself tells the fool to have a thrill ride, and the dumbo thinks it's his own idea. All the dumbo leaves behind is misery for the surviving relatives to go through because of a selfish thrill, if the dumbo dies as a result of staying behind.

some people just don't have a lick of sence- I think Proverbs calls them " fools" and / or ' simple -Proverbs 27:12> a prudent man foreseeth the evil ( or danger)and hideth himself( takes cover, shelter, safety);but the simple pass on( stay ,go for it, exctra)and are punished( in the case of hurrican katrina- drown or get stuck on a roof top). this is just one of many descriptions of a fool or stupid person, or one who has no common sence wisdom, or prudence

Like I said in a post earlier...when there is a weather warning of any kind...you should listen and pay attention to it. People that don't listen must not value their lives.

I thought that it was a mandtory evacuation, dont that mean everybody must leave? I dont think it was much of thrill seekers, just people using poor judgement. I have never been in that situation, but if i was told to leave, Im gone.
