Double check your tires to see if they are too old. Even when buying new tires they could be 10 years old. This will scare you. Check the Code on the tire given here.:
The Euclid Corridor will soon be running for those who ride the current #6. The Euclid Corridor will supposly have its grand day on October 25, 2008. However it will no longer be called #6. It's name will change & will soon be called "The Health Line". Someone has told me that Cleveland Clinic had something to do with the name change.
Please give me your input & tell me what you think!!!!! I'm curious & would like to hear the opinion of others!!!!!
My Opinion: The Euclid Corridor Project is huge which seems to take forever to finish. It appears to be a waste of time & money. Many stores & buisnesses have had to close or relocate do to lose of customers as a direct result of the Euclid Corridor Project. The Euclid Corridor is extremly nice looking. However it looks like a fancy rapid train on wheels. I was surprised & amazed with the interior & exterior design. I don't quite get it though. The structure, design & bus stops. What the hell happened there?
Problem #1 There is one fare box in the Euclid Corridor vehicle just as there is now in the other buses & rapids. However it appears to be & cause a problem when boarding in particular areas. In particular boarding areas especially some of the Downtown Public Square stops, you have to board the vehicle, walk past passengers to get to the front to pay your fare than turn around & walk past the passengers once again to find & have an available seat. The aisle is narrow & tight. You end up bumping into the other passengers no matter what. You can't avoid it.
Problem #2 The Euclid Corridor vehicle pulls up at a bus shelter & comes to a stop to either allow a person to board or exit the vehicle, but WATCH YOUR STEP!!!!! Quite often there is a gap between the vehicle itself & the landing area. I have seen people fall down into the gap & hurt their leg. I've also seen wheelchairs get stuck between the vehicle & the landing area while trying to board & exit the vehicle. With some wheelchairs you have to lift them up alittle just to be able to board & exit the vehicle so that they won't get stuck in the gap. I hate this & I believe that it is a safety issue. What about our senior citizens? How about those who are diabled or not so steady on their feet all the time? Think about the children? Think about everyone? Its easy for RTA. Their solution is to post a sign about the gap problem & thats the answer to the issue. Its wrong just wrong. What if a person doesn't know how to read or maybe their blind?
Problem #3 You have to be at the proper stop or the Euclid Corridor vehicle will keep on going. What if the vehicle is early at the stop? That doesn't matter. If your not there, it keeps on going. What if your running for the vehicle? That doesn't matter either. Your not there so its not going to stop & wait for you. What if the vehicle is late? Sorry, but that doesn't matter. Once again your not there so you miss it. The vehicle is late though, no one knows when it will arrive due to being off schedule. Oh, who cares it will keep on going. This is an issue that occurs already with many other rapids & buses. If you get a curtious, kind & polite driver maybe you'll get lucky & won't have to face this issue, but then again no matter what it will always be a problem. I have been told that RTA will be even more strict about this on the Euclid Corridor vehicle when it begins its service. So be at your stop when the vehicle arrives or your going to be waiting for the next one.
Problem #4 Paying for your fare is easy & simple, but what about those fare boxes? Be careful about how you pay your fare. Make sure that you put the dollars, coins & passes in the proper slot. If you don't you could potenially damage or break the fare box which would put it out of service. Make sure that your dollar bills are crisp or have little to no folds or wrinkles in them. If they do the machine may reject & not accept the bill. The easiest way is to use coins to pay fare instead of dollar bills. However don't put the coins in too fast or you could jam the fare box. This is already an issue with RTA, but they do nothing to rework or fix the problem.
Problem #5 Many people have heard that RTA will boost up their police presence when the Euclid Corridor begins its service, but don't hold your breath. I'm not saying that the RTA officers won't be on the buses or rapids, but their prsence will not be boosted up. I have asked an RTA officer about this. He seys that RTA is in debt by a whole lot of dollars & they don't have the funding or money to be able to boost up the presence of their officers. Does RTA even care in the first place about the safety of their passengers? They may or may not, but who knows. They are the same ones who say that they can't do anything about when a passenger gets hurt by another passenger because they aren't responsible for ones actions against another. Oh, they are also the same ones who have rules & hardly inforces them (example: a passenger is drinking alcohol on RTA property & nothing is hardly ever said or done about it).
Problem #6 The new bus shelters are nice, but what happened? I thought that they were still being worked on, but I've been told that there done, finished. Where's the space? What happened to the seating? How are the passengers to keep warm on the colder days? When it rains, it rains inside of the bus shelter. Your not very protected from the rain because the bus shelter leaks & the rain gets blown into the bus shelter. What about the emergency buttons? The bus shelters along the Euclid Corridor route have a tall unit that is currently wrapped up in what looks like clear plastic cellophane. These units are actaully going to be for the pasengers in case an emergency is to occur. What you do is press the button, explain your emergency & help is to arrive. We can't use them though because there all wrapped up.
Problem #7 Does RTA even care about us? We have attended mettings, written letters, made phone calls & have given our opinion & input about the service, but why? The truth is that RTA is going to do, what RTA wants to do no matter what. They ask us for our advice. They ask us for our input & opinion when in reality no matter what we say & do would make no difference. They have made up their minds in advance so in reality they have waisted our time. We have to face it, bus fares will go up, particular services & routes will be discontinued, routes will be tweeked with & moved around. We miss out & we become messed up, but they don't care. Its true that riding RTA is cheeper than driving a car, but the way RTA is becoming eventually it may not be.
Now that gas is going up again and people are looking for cheaper ways to get to and from work; is anyone writing our politicians to get them to build enough bike paths? I haven't biked in years. Scared! Idiot drivers who have no respect for the laws or other people. They are safe in their cars, too many of my body parts are at risk. I need to lose a huge amount of weight, bicycling might do that, but fear of getting hit by a car or truck has me on the sidelines. No idea where to look for laws regarding bikes riding on the sidewalk, where it is safe for them but may not be safe for pedestrians walking. What to do? Also, too many bike choices. I weigh over 300 lbs and am 5'8" tall. I'd want a all around bike, something that would be ok on the street and on bike paths in the country. Just now thinking about it, may do something about it next summer. Plenty of time then to read up on bikes, bike safety and other issues. Still looking for that perfect club that will answer all my questions. Oh, and I am not willing to pay a huge amount for a first bike right now, after all, I might give it up and paying over $500.00 for a bike seems a bit high. Anyway, I just don't feel like driving my bike to a safe metropark and then taking it off my vehicle to pedal, how far??? Would like to simply pedal to the safe bike path, SAFELY; and then go however far I feel like going. Dave
Am I the only one who gets angry at bikes in traffic. They want a right to the road, ok? Look at all the things we have to do to legally drive a car. License, insurance, tags, E-check, registration, etc... Yet these people have a right to mosy along on their bikes, holding up traffic. Drives me nuts!!! You cant even drive thru the metroparks without them in the road. Aren't there bike trails?? What if a bike hits your car, is their insurance company gonna pay? I have seen this to many times almost cause accidents! Not to mention most of them dont even follow the street signs or the stop lights!!!!
Going crazy in Lakewood
Are you of those people who drive 480east everyday from Transportation to 271? If so can you tell me why every single day you must break? You drive this route 5 days a week, you don't know it by now? Come on pay attention, I'm sick of sitting here everyday.
