PLUS @ HOB 12/28/08
Greetings everyone!
Well here it is again people - the 5th annual holiday jam at the House of Blues
is coming up.
http://www.hob.com/tickets/eventdetail.asp?eventid=550
75
This year it's on the 28th, which is a Sunday. Traditionally we have always
done the 26th every year, but Michael Stanley swooped in early and took the
Friday AND Saturday, so we had to take what was left. No worries though, I feel
fortunate that HOB would even see fit to have us back like this every year. So
that being said, I think this year's show is going to especially hot because we
have opening for us the award winning Afrobeat ensemble, Mifune! http://mifunemusic.com/
Fresh off their new CD release, Mifune has the energy and groove driven
power to blast things off and get booties movin' from the first note, so I
encourage you to get there early and check 'em out if you never have before.
They opened for First Light at our 10 Yr. Reunion show at Nautica this past
June, and PLUS Band's upcoming new CD is being recorded at Mifune's studios as
we speak.
This joining of forces is indicative of a new era of collaboration and
cooperation between the best of Cleveland's
music community, spearheaded by Cleveland's
own Little Fish Records. For too long we've been separated in this town. It's
time to come together, because from unity comes strength. It's what I and
others have been saying for so many years, and now I can see the movement
happening. It's time for Cleveland
to come into its own - who's on board?
Anyway, it occurred to me that I'd like to do something different this
year, and ask you what you'd like to hear in our set at HOB. I know you all
have your favorites and I'm just curious to know what they are. So hit me, and
let me know what would really float your boat at the show this year. The songs
that get the most requests will go into the set, cool? Also, anyone with an
artistic inclination who might want to take a shot at designing our new CD
cover, I'd love to see what you come up with. Here are the proposed titles for
the CD right now - choose your favorite and go for it:
1.
Music To The Rescue
2. Leave A Trail
3. A New Day
If
yours is chosen, it will mean a whole lot of special treatment for you in the
coming year. Submit all entries to losplus@sbcglobal.net
in jpeg, bmp or pdf format.
I guess that's all for now. As we come to another year's end I find
myself in a reflective mood - looking back on all the days past and feeling
really blessed and thankful for all I've been allowed to do, for the people in
my life, old friends and new, health and strength, for hope and change to come,
and for all your love and support. As always, I hope to be able to continue to
channel the joy I get from playing music and singing a song to each and every
one of you and your children too. It's what I live for, positively!
Take
care and be well. I hope to see you soon.
Peace
& Love,
Carlos

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all. Just a reminder,
Night Vision Classical and Film Soundtracks at Live365 is dedicated to easing the stress during holidays when relatives and friends gather, or while preparing Thanksgiving meals. Whatever the occasion, this online radio format is ideal for that peaceful setting (if that is what you seek). The last time I looked, the station is gaining on a top ten spot amongst Soundtrack genre stations (at 27 presently) , and has many dedicated listeners from across the globe, including those who keep us on all the time.
If you find the time, give it a listen. Sign up for the free 5-day trial to listen in CD quality stereo without commercial interruption (you can cancel if you prefer before the trial ends). Experience for yourself what some have called 'The most beautiful music on the planet'.
After all, you deserve a quiet time.

I slide through the wasteland that's my world
My hunger takes your life, preyed on to keep me alive, yeah
Mercy's all that you need, mercy's empty in me
Can't you feel the poison rising out of the morning and into the night
You can feel my strength destroy you straight to the heart from the venomous bite
That's right I shed my skin tonight but my fangs are hard to hide
And you know that you're going to die, yeah
Mercy's all that you need, mercy's empty in me
Can't you feel the poison rising out of the morning and clear through the night
You can feel my strength destroy you straight to the heart from the venomous bite
I can't regret, can't escape decisions made for me, no control
Fire that burns but never dies, wrapped around I'll bury my fangs inside
Making my way through the night you're still in my sight
You're runnin' away cuz ya know you can't hide
My instincts are cold blooded hate; to you I'm the bearer of fate
Wrong place and now the wrong time, now terror is all that you'll find
Can't you feel the poison rising, straight to the heart of the venomous bite...
Cant you feel the poison rising, out of the morning and clear through the night
You can feel my strength destroy you straight to the heart from the venomous bite
I can't regret, can't escape decisions made for me, no control
Fire that burns but never dies, wrapped around I'll bury my fangs inside
Stay inside tonight - you're out there all alone
Vanish from my sites - venomous control
You won't make it right- my appetite has grown
Lost the final fight - no love will be shown
Stay inside tonight - you're out there all alone
Vanish from my sites - venomous control
You can't make it right - my appetite has grown
Lost the final fight - no love will be shown

New Indie Jazz guitarist, Dave Percell is quickly gaining exposure and popularity as at least 3 radio stations have picked him up last week. Awesomeradio.net has released that since airing his tunes, "He has grown quite a fan base."
FYI- Awesomeradio.net has selected Dave Percell as a featured Indie Artist to Showcase for 1 hour on their Wedensday morning Indie Showcase @ 4am EST.
Another Jazz Radio Station, The Jazz Suite, has picked up his track "Right of Way" and has it rotating in their broadcast.
Cindy D'Adamo Radio Scout and Artist Management - has called 'No Turning Back' a Radio oriented song - crossing the bridge between Jazz and Adult Contemporary. She says, "There is a very catchy
rhythm and a great hook to this tune which I am betting will bring you
back for more of the music of Dave Percell.
Mel from V Radio "The Smooth Jazz Experience" received Dave Percell's tracks and has said, I listened to Dave Percell's music and fell in love!! He is fantastic!!!
I had to go to his site and listen to the rest of it and listened over
and over again!! He will be on the show tonight!!
Check out Dave Percell for yourself at

The Cleveland Pops Orchestra will be playing at a holiday concert on Saturday December 6th at Avon Lake High School at 7:30PM. Tickets are available for $30 each through the Avon/Avon Lake Rotary. This is a nice holiday concert that features the local school choir and is a great way to have a local evening without going downtown.

Music Review For Dave Percell
Thursday, October 23, 2008 Music Review- Dave Percell
Author: Cindy D'Adamo CEO LadyLake ManagementCategory: Music
I
stumbled across Dave somehow on the MySpace journey, and was given two
tracks for radio promotion, however I must begin my first Music Review
Blog with the sound of Dave Percell.
The first track I heard was '
Into The Light',
which immediately took me to the Lindsey Bickingham song 'Django' from
Buckingham/Nicks. It has a similar flavor-full of sunlit passes which
are akin to driving down the California coast with the wind in your
hair. The song is a journey in itself, and I highly recommend it to any
fans of intricate guitar work of any genre.
The other track I was sent was called '
No Turning Back'.
This is a more radio-oriented song, croosing the bridge between Jazz
and Adult Contemporary. There is a very catchy rhythm and a great hook
to this tune which I am betting will bring you back for more of the
music of Dave Percell.
Please check out Dave's music on MySpace here:

...That band is RUSH.
Love them or hate them, RUSH has been a force in music for almost 35 years. While staying away from the mainstream media, RUSH continues to create music as their fanbase grows. They should be in thr rock hall for these reasons:
1) RUSH has had 24 consecutive gold and platnium albums, only 4 other groups have more. The Beattles, Aerosmith, KISS and the Rolling Stones.
2) The talent level is second to none. All 3 band members produce music that sounds as if 5 or 6 are playing. All have won awards with their respective instruments.
3) Many younger bands like Metallica, Tool, Foo Fighters have mentioned that RUSH has influenced their music.
You might not like Progressive Rock but their musical talent, consistent lineup (hasn't changed since 1974) have led to continued success.
All of this is certainly enough reason for election into the Rock Hall.
