   McCain

John McCain uses lies, phony outrage and Swift-boat politics, claiming Obama used a sexist comment against vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. "I don't care what they say about me. But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and Swift-boat politics. Enough is enough," he said. Obama criticized McCain's economic policies as similar to those of President Bush, saying: "You can put lipstick on a pig ... it's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still going to stink after eight years. "The McCain campaign contended that the comments were directed at Palin, the GOP's first woman on a presidential ticket. In her acceptance speech last week, she had referred to herself in a joke about lipstick being the only difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull. Accusing Obama of "smearing" Palin in "offensive and disgraceful" comments, the McCain campaign demanded an apology, even though McCain himself used the folksy metaphor a few times last year, including once to describe Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care plan. The McCain campaign on Wednesday issued an Internet ad that said Obama was talking about Palin and said of Obama: "Ready to lead? No. Ready to smear? Yes.""What their campaign has done this morning is the same game that has made people sick and tired of politics in this country. They seize on an innocent remark, try to take it out of context, throw up an outrageous ad because they know that it's catnip for the news media," Obama said. Obama's campaign has accused the GOP camp of engaging in a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card." In an e-mail to reporters Wednesday, the campaign noted two other instances of McCain using the phrase "lipstick on a pig" and its use by other Republicans such as House Minority Leader John Boehner and Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl.

werner, what all this in recent weeks has REALLY done is shown all you obamatrons that he is not different...........he can play dirty too.

he CLAIMS he's different, he CLAIMS he wants to change things........but when the going gets tough, he's wallowing in the mud with everyone else.

personally, i heard it & it DID sound like a jab at Palin...........but not something HUGE like the media is making it out to be.

imagine that, the media is NOT salivating all over the "ONE" any more. hmmmmm

Excellent post, my sentiments exactly. The Republicans look like little children whining all the time. If they want to take what Obama said, twist it and then go public with it, what will they do if in power and Russia or Iran does not have kind words to say about their Administration? Would they go to war, twist the facts and tell us their made up version of why we went to war.

Just the manner in which they handled this shows McCain and Palin represent the same old politics that got us where we are today. If people in this country fall for this tactic for the 3rd time, the Republicans will have no more respect for the American people that they have now, in fact it will be less. They know they are full of BLEEP, they know they are feeding us BLEEP and if we fall for it the 3rd time all while the country is worst condition since the Great Depression, they will laugh all the way to White House, knowing they can tell us anything and we will fall for it. We are giving them carte blanch to continue to take away are freedoms, tax us higher than the rich, gouge us with high gas prices, take away our homes, jobs and food and do anything else they deem fit. And don’t forget they will have “Pitbull Palin” to do much of their dirty work, and if the American people stand up to her BLEEP, it will be called sexist. She has already proven to them she is up to the task, and when anyone says anything negative about her they holler sexist. This country will not and can not allow itself to be held hostage by the Republican Party and their pet female Pitbull!

I think that two weeks ago the statment Obama made about lipstick on pigs would not have mattered to the press, but since Sarah Palin used a phrase like that in her acceptance speach it appeared to be meant for her. Whether it did or didn't the fats remain, do you want a man that is not intellegent enough to get his points accross with out using phases with pigs nd stink in it. Just seems like Getto language, and not very presidential.

dprin, Obama was not wallowing in the mud with you Republicans, and he was not playing dirty. He using a methapor to describe the Bush-McCain economic policies.

That was it end of story! Only desperate people will try to make something of that comment.

Kalayna, McCain used the methapor to describe Hillary's Health Care Plan, and we "adult" democrates did not try to make anything out of it. We were intelligent enough to know the difference. As far as getto language.... well all I can say is that McCain went there first.

What is not presidential is the whining about it like the Republicans are doing, to whine about this means they can not stand up too Russia or Iran when they say something that will offend the McCain/Palin Administration. Believe me the entire world is watching this election, and now they know what whinee babies the McCain/Palin Administration will be. They may decide to use that same language and call them out. What will the McCain/Palin Administration do then? Go to war!!!

Whether or not Obama was talking about Palin with his “lipstick on a pig” reference is only known to him – the crowd seemed to think it was though, which is why they laughed & cheered so heartily when it was delivered but his “fish wrap” comment could’ve been another reference to her as well…..after all it is now public knowledge that her nickname when playing basketball in high school was “Sarah Barracuda”.

One thing is obvious though – Sarah Palin is so deep in Barack Obama’s head right now that she is nearly all he can talk about these days….the same goes for Joe Biden and it is rather odd to see the Presidential nominee of one Party publically addressing and trying to run against the Vice Presidential nominee of the other one, but she has generated so much excitement lately and propelled the GOP ticket ahead in the polls that Obama feels more threatened by her than he does his real opponent, Republican Presidential nominee Senator John S. McCain.

You Obama worshippers are just frustrated that the DNC doesn’t have an answer for Governor Palin’s obvious competence & popularity, and that none of the desperate attacks or attempts from the left wing & the media to destroy or even to discredit her have come even close to succeeding.
