Anyone over 40 might recall that Jimmy Carter (whose advisors sit with Obama) had taken the US to the worst economy since the depression.  This will work itself out like the one in 84 and 93 and 2001.  So when Obama claims this is the worst Economy since the Depression he is either a liar or a moron.  And those who repeat that ... ditto.

Jimmy Carter had unemployment to 12 percent, Interest rates not at 5 per cent like today, but 24 percent !!!  He had gas lines with OPEC playing us,  He had Hostages in Iran shoving us around, and Banking industry where noooooo loans were given out.

That was torture.... AMericans have the worst memory.  Anything past 8 months is ancient history... but I will never forget what that Liberal Carter did to the US causing a landslide Reagan victory to kick him out.

So call Obama and tell him to stop lying.

good job truthguy, but, we can't call obama, he's too busy trying to run for President.

that's the job he thinks is HIS......doesn't want to bother to be the Senator that Illinois EXPECTED him to be.

he's been running for President longer than he actually did his JOB. LOL

"O" isn't lying. It is the worst. In 1929 high paid executives didn't get paid. Today they get paid. Use that $1.3 trillion bail out money for infrastructre rebuilds and let the financial sector crumble so it can start fresh and new.

I agree, let them crumble!. I had recently had to bite the bullet and file backruptcy due to losing a good job only to find with heavy competition my pay getting cut 40% here in Ohio. If I should have to start over due to an unforeseen horizon then so should they!, nobody was waiting to bail me out and the banks just laughed knowing the president was going to propose a bailout!. I really feel bad, but this Country really needs a fresh start too! I just heard the senate talking about what's next?, a bailout on credit card debt that now exceeds one trillion dollars?.
Heaven help our leaders, for they are not what we ALL believe they are.

I beg to differ. Jimmy Carter didn't have a war to buffer his economy. Bush has a war and still his economy sucks. Dprin339 - You're so right, That's what leaders do they run there own agenda's they stay focused. Senator McCains feeble attempt to delay the debate in the name of the bailout is just plain pitiful. his new slogan should be " Run McCain Run"

Good analogy waterlover. Plus the so called Reagan "landslide victory" was also the start of the "downslide" of industrial America. This "union buster" had a dream of two classes of people. The rich and the poor. He forgot what makes America mighty. The working middle-class. Reagan did his` very best acting job in the White House. "Here you poor working stiff ! Take another one for the Gipper !"

Why not give every household in America 100000 to go towards there mortgages? 275 million is a farrrrrrr shout from 700 billion. For every household rich or poor an opportunity for new beginnings will hail victory to the economic depression. Banks will get paid… homeowners will actually be home owners and those whom owe more an there mortgages will have 100k less to pay back. If a home owner owes example 75k and has 25k in credit cards they can pay off outstanding debts. If we are getting the bill then we should get the rewards. If 150 million Americans lost their home for the last 5 years its 72 billion where is the 700 billion accounting for. Give to the people who pay taxes in America and all credit woes and housing will be better than ever. Simple math and a simple solution yet we will get shafted in the end

imsellenu2000... I wish they could help just the mortgages in trouble ( a vast majority are paid just fine).. and not give companies money.
