The latest Democrat to take a backhanded swipe at Senator McCain’s heroic wartime service was none other than everyone’s favorite draft dodging, pot smoking, intern sexing, pathologically lying, pardon selling former President William Jefferson Clinton. Speaking last week at the Aspen Ideas Festival, he claimed that Nelson Mandela had stated that he struggled to let go of his anger towards his captors, and then this former President and noted Prisoner Of War expert speculated that former POWs were prone to suffer flashbacks at any time.

Having been a Rhodes Scholar in his younger days, Clinton may claim he was only talking about Mandela but when the Presidential nominee from the opposing political party to his is known to have spent 5½ as a captive himself, Bubba knows that most people will connect the dots and come up with a picture of McCain in this case.

Billy is the 3rd Obama supporter to recently attack McCain’s courageous military service in defense of this great Nation, and perhaps the least qualified to do so. The repeated attacks on McCain’s impressive military career & brave conduct in combat illustrate the fact that the Democrats are scared to death of this stark contrast to their own weak, flawed & severely inexperienced Presidential candidate….

McCain Brushes off Bill Clinton Claim that Former POWs Can Snap at Any Time

John McCain on Tuesday questioned Bill Clinton’s credentials to discuss the mental health of prisoners of war after the former president told an audience in Aspen that it’s just a matter of time before a former POW snaps and relives the nightmare of his imprisonment.

McCain spent five and a half years in Hanoi as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War.

“I don’t know where he gets his expertise,” the presumptive Republican presidential candidate told FOX News, adding that his fellow prisoners have been some of the strongest people he knows.

Comparing Nelson Mandela, who was a political prisoner in South Africa for 27 years, to a POW, Clinton told a crowd at the Aspen Ideas Festival last week that Mandela explained to him once that he had to learn to let go of his anger toward his captors in order to be truly free.

Clinton, who has vowed to campaign for Barack Obama, then suggested that POWs could lose their cool at any moment.

“It’s just like if you know anybody who’s ever been a POW for any length of time, you will see you go along for months or maybe even years, and then something will happen and it will trigger all those bad dreams and they will come back, and it may not last 30 seconds,” he said.

Clinton added that Mandela isn’t the only one who has to release his anger.

“Every living soul on the planet has some, often highly justified anger. Everybody,” Clinton said. “This is a universal lesson that all of us have to keep struggling with in our lives.”

McCain has run his campaign in part on national security credentials and touts his support for a surge earlier in the Iraq war as evidence of his understanding of security challenge. Besides serving in the Navy, he has been chairman and ranking member of the Senate Armed Services committee.

But McCain’s war service record has been downplayed by some Obama backers, including Gen. Wesley Clark, who recently said that getting shot down in a fighter plane doesn’t make one fit to serve as president. Clark later stepped back from that remark after Obama said no one’s military service should be devalued.

Former Clinton White House counsel Lanny Davis said Bill and Hillary Clinton have too high a regard for McCain to say something underhanded about him.

“Let me think about it. No,” Davis, a FOX News contributor, said, answering a question whether it could have been an intentional slight. “Under no circumstances … was President Clinton saying anything in any way disparaging about the great service” of McCain.

McCain on Tuesday brushed off the latest remarks by Clinton.

“I don’t know how to respond to that except to say that some of the greatest moments of my life was I had the great honor of serving in the company of heroes and observing a thousand acts of courage and compassion and love, and those that I know best and love most are those that I had the honor of being led by and served with, who inspired me to do things I never would have been capable of,” said McCain, adding that Americans are more interested in the economy, jobs, housing and education.

“Whatever they want to do is fine,” he added of Obama’s backers.

Slick Willie can go to _ell and take Hussein with him. Mandela would be a Terrorist had he murdered all of those people over here. I put him right up there with T. Mc Veigh and the rest of the Murdering Muslims and Terrorist. Everyone knows that Clinton and Hussein never served one day, yet the Dems. and certain ethnic voters could care less. Oh, yea, I am not VOTING for either one of these AMNESTY

And why is that not surprising? Now since its Senator Obama and Senator McCain that now the Obama "unoffical" attack machine. I thought they would attack on his record in the Senate first before they would go after his military record. Of course, Senator Obama has to attack Senator McCain's military record since one of the two doesn't have one...sounds familiar?

did you or hacksaw fight hiram...and there will be follow up questions...im wondering if you people were as upset when the winner of the silver star...john kerry...a rich man whos daddy could have gotten him into the national guard to avoid the war...was slighted by the swift boat crowd...all veterans deserve our respect...and no one who hasnt served deserves an opinion on those who did

I have personally worked side by side with many Vietnam Vets. I have the utmost respect for them. However, They do tend to have flash backs. Depending on how much trama they suffered. I'm quite sure being a POW was very tramatic. Many humble thanks for Senator McCain for his service to our great country. However, I don't think he's able to fullfill the duties of Commander in Chief of our great Nation.

"viet nam hacksaw...and yer a liar..." - rickyw

I truly doubt if you are a Vietnam veteran, but I know for sure that I've served in Iraq and would do it again if I had to.

So tell me Doctor,
How many “flashbacks” did John McCain suffer in his two terms in the US House of Representatives, or his 20+ years in the Senate?

Senator McCain is a lot more qualified to as you say “fulfill the duties of Commander in Chief of our great Nation” than a guy who never even put on an ROTC uniform, opting instead to “experiment” with alcohol, marijuana & cocaine…I would imagine that many drug users experience “flashbacks” as well, so I’ll go with the guy who served this great Nation in uniform during a time of war.

i'm with you hacksaw, PTSD has many different symptoms..........the only person who knows how or if this affects him in any way is McCain. it IS possible to control this........

let's see, do the math, if ricky is 57 then he would have been eligible for the draft in 1969......it's possible that he was drafted for vietnam............but maybe he fought with john kerry & learned how to get OUT quick! ricky, can you say swiftboat? how about scratch on the butt? LOL (or did we just avoid serving by being a college boy like slick willie?)

You seem to forget that Senator John McCain has 2 sons in our military (1 son is a Marine who has already served in Iraq, the other is currently at the Naval Academy following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather & great grandfather as a Naval Officer.)

Despite the potential devastating cost to his own family, John McCain favors staying in Iraq and completing the job even if it costs him a son or possibly two…he talks the talk, because he’s walked the walk and continues to....that's credbility that Senator Obama cannot even approach!

How exactly did you “make your service record public”? Did you scan your DD-214 and post it as an attachment here for all to view?

You’re so full of it, your eyes are probably brown as a result!

All I know is that I, and my entire coal miing family, ( who, unlike me are democrat ) will be voting for someone who'se served his country instead of a commie who refuses to salute the flag, wear the lapel or even say the pledge of allegience. Whose wife proclaims to be "keepin' it real" by standing by her husband... Oh _ell in a handbasket will be only the beginning if obama wins. May God help us all

Hacksaw - I'm not a Doctor yet, but will let you know when I do receive my PHD. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to see the obvious. I stand by what my eyes have seen. I couldn't tell you how many flashbacks Senator McCain has had in his life, nor do I care. The point is; the man is 74 years old, and his mental state is very questionable. The vast majority of 74 year old people that are alive are retired. If you sincerly believe that Senator McCain can run this country, then next tax year go to the VA hospital and entrust your taxes to one of the 74 year old retired CPAs. Better yet, allow them to manage your portfolio. Don't hesitate, remember they're war heroes.
