Who honestly thinks that sending more troops into an extreme hot spot is the way to solve the issue? Its just going to make things worse. It makes the US look weak and gives those who are angry about the US invasion more troops to kill. We don't have to worry about them coming here to the US, there's over 100,000+ Americans in their own land.

I loved how Bush kept referring to all his military commanders who support his 'surge'. As far as I remember reading, I didn't read about any military commander supporting the surge.

The speech last night made me want to put my foot through the screen. I also loved how this morning they are saying a new poll shows that nearly 68% of the US population (with an error of +/- 3) does not approve of Bush's methods of handing the war.

Gee, where were all you people when you voted the last time? How did you re-elect him? Oh wait..now I remember...but we won't go there today..I don't have the strength.

i agree, where was all these voters when it counted, but i do feel that what needs to happened is take all the troops over there and just level irag, then they could find the people they need to find. the u.s. will rebuild it anyway. i had a son shipped to irag and another one on going to sign up for the national guard, its hard to think that my boys can keep going over there, just level the place and do what needs to be done and be done with it.

It would be political suicide for the US to just level the nation (although I have to agree..it's halfway there just give it another push). The international community would unleash hell and the US would fall hard...its a horrible situation and one that obviously was not thought out very well at all.

Chuck

Why hasn't the media reported on the hundreds of amputeed soldiers from the Iraq War. Young Men returning without arms and legs that have their whole life ahead of them.

MSNBC did a special on all the troops that are coming home home. It was so sad. They need to have all the therapy and interviews from all the medical centers on live feed all day so everyone can see...take off the day time soaps and stupid Oprah and put up the troops for everyone to see...then maybe they'd understand!

Well, maybe not, they'd just be annoyed that Oprah was off the air!

I think the U.S. should pull our troops out & bring them home. U.S. needs to worry more about their own people & alot less about other countries. Would we like it if another country came in here & changed our way of life? It wouldn't happen.

I find it very disturbing that the American public continues to play armchair quarterback on the war in Iraq. We are not privy to information so critical to the conditions in Iraq, and our own safety for that matter.

I have a family member that spent time in Iraq and he tells a very different story than does the majority of the media reports we hear. There's so much progress and so many positive things happening. Change doesn't happen over night.

If we leave Iraq now, we have not only failed the Iraqies, but we've failed here at home. Any respect that the rest of the world has ever had for us and our ability to stand strong, will most definitely be lost.

I support our soldiers 100%,but I just don't believe that the "terrorists" are threatened by our presence in Iran!Protect U.S.soil,so that we are safe from future tragedies like 911.After Iraq...where next? Terrorism won't stop there.

Debra, I completely agree with you. If we were to just pull out and leave Iraq on its own at this point, it would have devastating consequences.
Number one, Do we want Iran going there and taking over? They are already developing nuclear weapons.
Number Two, What about Somalia? They too are an oil rich nation. And, like Iran, they are both known to support and arm terrorist activities.
Number three, When 9/11 happened, we were not in Iraq, and we were not in Afghanistan. We were protecting American soil, and we were attacked on American soil. So, do not think for a moment we can protect American soil just by being at home and waiting. The only way to fight terrorism and do so with as few casualties as possible, is to act, and not react. When 9/11 happened, we reacted. Now, it is time to act.

I believe the extra troops over there will help to get this done. I do not agree with the strategies to this point, however I am no expert on warfare, nor do I have all information. But, if you listened last night, and if you ever turn on CNN for a few moments, you will see a much bigger picture. I think they are finally taking the right path for victory. Time will tell.
