The question is not "WHY" ... but "WHY NOT?"

We have everything right here.  We have a Lake.  With a few modifications, we have most of the facilities and arenas that are required.  And unlike Beijing ... there's no thick clouds of polluted air hanging in our skies.  And compared to Chicago who has a bid in for 2016 (which they probably will not get) - I think we're a much more friendlier city to host such an International Event.

Imagine a revitalized Flats as an Olympic Village!

I wouldn't mind see the Olympic Flame burning above Browns Stadium.

Want to give this city hope?  Want to revitalize us?  Let us host the "World" and become known for something more than the "Mistake by the Lake which set a River on Fire" ... although a burning river Olympic logo may be kind of interesting.

I've always wondered that myself, however I figured building new stuff on the lake might be better than using some of the already existing stuff for venues. Imagine a foreigner getting lost to far from downtown. However I for one would want to see the flame at Indians Stadium, although admittedly it would be the greatest venue for capacity and for events.

I'm all for it if we could bulldoze East Cleveland to the ground to make way for the Olympics.

That would be nice, but lets face it we cant even get casino gambling here. Let's face it there's no night life here unless your a drinker. Cleveland can't compete with cities like Beijing, London, or even Chicago. Not that we don't have the potential. We have a great lakefront that's going to waste as an Airport. When the greedy closed minded people that are in control in Cleveland die off, then and only then will Cleveland grow to the magnitude that it could support an Olympics. We cant even get a significant size convention here. There's nothing to do
