I just sat down with a nephew to watch some cartoons - this stuff is absolute garbage!  What happened to Bugs Bunny, Speed Racer, Wiley Coyote, the Roadrunner, Casper the Friendly Ghost, the original Scooby Doo, Jose and the Pussycats, ABC Afterschool Specials or Johnny Quest?  Heck, even the Smurfs were good.  Where did all the truly fun and good cartoons go?  No wonder our kids are so messed up today, shooting up schools and attempting to kill their parents ... watching *cartoons* with evil satanic looking creatures trying to kill people or hideously gross monsters that would make even Freddy Krugger run and hide.  Who thinks up this garbage?  I switched over the channel because I'm a responsible person ... it just makes me sad that somewhere, some sick freak thinks these kind of cartoons are funny for kids.

Sigh.

Somehow, I definitely think our society is decisively now on the downhill slide.   The party's almost over ... and we're just letting it fall apart like ancient Rome did.  History repeats itself.

No I agree with you. Have you tried Spung Bob? I love those cartoons. They always seems to have a good moral base with a lesson learned in the end. I don't know if you'll like it but I sure do.

I always liked Thundercats (which had alot of cool monsters

I liked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which had monsters/mutants)- But had some good moral lessons

I liked Captain Planet (which did not have monsters)- It had a postive environmental message

I agree with you david... I remember someone telling me that wiley coyote was too violent... is that not a huge crock! I'm so sick of this crap on Disney and Nick. Where has the innocence gone? These kids on the shows like Hannah Montana and Drake and Josh are always about boys/girls kissing, dating! Where did Mickey Mouse go? Donald Duck? Does Disney even realize the example they are teaching our kids today!?

When I was a kid, cartoons were designed to be funny and intelligent so that they young and adult could both enjoy them. Then Liberals began to criticize these cartoons and had them banned. While my children were growing up, we found that most of the cartoons had some political message. “Corporations Bad” was the loudest of them. So we bought videos for the kids to watch in stead. One exception was the Animaniacs. These were the brilliant type of “Warner Bros” type cartoons reborn. Loved that Pinky and the Brain…

I remember when Hasbro got in trouble for the GI JOE cartoons because they thought it would be a good marketing idea to turn 30 minutes of a cartoon into basically 30 minutes of toy commercial directed at their target audience of children.

Stupidity and Violence - and crappy cartoon animation on top of all of it.

Luckily for cable users, there's Boomerang.
