Now did you really think there would be naked people on this blog...anyway, here are the deals of the week. By the way, this will be my last post on this site. You can check out my posts on http://s3.freepowerboards.com/neocouponers/. I have a forum there.

Norwegian Cruise Line
Officials at Norwegian attribute the redeployment to financial losses in Hawaii in 2006 and say the move will be temporary. The Pride of Hawaii was the last of three ships introduced in Hawaii by Norwegian in less than three years. Combined with increased competition from other cruise lines visiting Hawaii as part of itineraries sailing to or from North America, the surge in capacity created a glut of cabins and lower prices for consumers.
The Norwegian Jade will arrive in Barcelona in late March, joining sister ships Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Gem in Europe for the 2008 season. Norwegian Jade will offer 12-, 13- and 14-night Mediterranean and Northern Europe cruises departing from Barcelona, Istanbul, Athens and London.
Bottom line: The buyer's market will continue in Hawaii for at least the next eight months. For a list of Hawaii sailings in 2007 on all Norwegian ships (including the Pride of Hawaii), click here. For a list of Norwegian Jade cruises in 2008, click here.

has announced that one of its three ships offering year-round Hawaii cruises will be renamed and redeployed in Europe next year. Pride of Hawaii will discontinue its 7-day Hawaiian islands cruises at the end of January 2008, when the ship will enter a brief wet dock to be fitted with a casino (forbidden on ships that sail wholly in Hawaii) and have its colorful hull repainted, among other modifications. When it emerges, the ship will be renamed Norwegian Jade and will be reflagged into the Bahamas registry. 50% off our Best Available Rate

If you ask anyone that has used coupons, inevitably one of them will tell you that they forgot their coupons at home. So make it a habit to keep your coupons in your car. In order for something to be a habit, studies show you'll need to do it 26 times. Then you will do it subconciously. If you forget the coupons while you are in the store, then just leave your cart and then go out to your car and get your coupons and then come back to the store.
Another method is to punish yourself every time you forget your coupons. So if you forget them, then lick the cart handle, smell the shoes of the person closest to you in the store, or pluck a mole hair. You will more than likely remember them next time.

I've found that many people in my classes that I teach aren't aware of double coupons. The stores could do a better job of advertising it, however Dave's Supermarket and Giant Eagle double coupons here locally. They do them 24 hours a day and, 7 days a week. The coupons must be 99 cents or less. So for instance, a 75 cent coupon will double to $1.50 off. You must have a store card in order to get the discount.
Stores in the Columbus area have also doubled $1 coupons at times. They are called super doubles. They have more competition so they have better coupon promotions. Tops, when they were here, doubled $1 coupons last year for a week in September.
One thing about double coupons - if the UPC starts with a 5, it will double automatically. If it starts with a 9, it won't.

PRICE MATCHING
I bought flowering baskets as many of you probably did this weekend. What I also did was have the store price match a competitor's price. You'll need the competitor's ad with the price advertised in it to do this. I had Sear's price match a Marc's ad ($7.95). And then I had Lowe's price match an Aldi's ad ($5.99). The have to be 10# containers. No troubles. The Aldi's ad is from this past Sunday. The price for the flowering baskets would otherwise have been about double the price.
GAS
Many of you have received the e-mail on the gasout that is to happen May 15th. Most of what the e-mails say won't have the intended effect. The one way we all can help lower prices is by using less gas, not delaying the use of it. And by that I mean getting a hybrid car, riding a bike instead of driving, turning your water heater down, or darning your socks in the river.
Check out snopes.com to spell out what really will happen with the gasout:

Another good site to check out is farecompare.com. They tell you what month, day, or week, it's cheapest to fly. Also they can notify you when a price fare hits a certain pre-defined amount.

Here are some great travel sites to check out:
vacationstogo.com - got a Hawaii cruise at 80% off on it and no problems with it. Lots of last minute cruise deals, but many aren't last minute deals too.
megabus.com - can get roundtrip bus rides to Chicago for $2 total.
skybus.com - cheap flights out of Columbus
kayak.com - comparison travel site
yahootravel.com - comparison travel site
Sign up with airlines, rental car, or hotel sites to get exclusive deals. Sometimes southwest.com will send $29 one way flight deals to it's e-mail members. Wyndham.com sends half off deals for certain hotels every so often. Continental will send $99 roundtrip deals to many cities (sent weekly).
Try this: If you rent a car, get the cheapest one. Typically the rental agency won't have the car in it's lot. I booked an economy car at $12 a day and got upgraded to a convertible since they didn't have any 'cheap' cars left in the lot when we went to Vegas.
Don't wait to get gas to fill up rental cars near airport gas stations when returning the car. The airport gas stations charge out the wazoo. Most don't even have a sign showing how much they charge.

CHANNEL 8
They repeated last Friday's segment this past Tuesday on their 8:00 show. They'll probably do the same the next few weeks when they air more segments on Fridays at 5:00. On that rebroadcast Wayne Dawson commented that he wouldn't want to be behind me in line. Of course he was referring to all the coupons I would use and the time it would take for the cashier to go through them. That's understandable. I know I wouldn't want to be behind me in line sometimes too. Some cashiers are good about zipping through the coupons while others aren't.
There are some options though to quell their frustration. I usually offer the people behind me in line a bite out of the sausage chub that I bought as a peace offering. Sometimes I will tell them that the line is closed now. Or if they seem like the angry type, I will tell them that the 'give out samples' lady in aisle 8 is pouring free shots of Cognac and if they hurry she was also throwing in free back massages using her elbow.
POSTAGE
Postage rates are going up starting May 14th. Send out all your mail now. Better yet, pay your bills on-line or pre-pay them to avoid paying for postage. The letter rate will go from 39 cents to 41 cents. Shape based packages, rigid mail, and flats will increase in price significantly. They are also offering a 'forever stamp'. The cost is 41 cents and it will last forever. So you can buy 1,000 of them now and 20 years from now it will still be good. Next year the cost will go up depending on inflation triggers, so next year's forever stamp may cost 45 cents. Get 'em now!
