I think the new curfew for teenagers that Tower City has is a good idea. I wish that other malls would do the same to cut down teenagers from loitering at the malls when they are suppose to be at home getting their homework. Let face it, idol minds are the Devil's workshop.  I remembered long time ago Randall Park Mall has a limited curfew years ago when a bunch of teenagers came through and destroyed display cases.  Mall officials had brought in local police to patrol the mall and removed all the chairs from the lounge areas for weeks.

I agree too. I also remember that happening at Randall Mall. These kids really need to find something constructive to do with there time. Sports or something. I also agree that a lot more kids get into trouble when they just "hang around". I know it can be a meeting place for some teens etc. They meet, shop, eat and leave along with having fun. But I think more and more are there to cause trouble now. Which is to bad. Because the next step is no one under 18 at all. It's ridiculous when an establishment has to go to the extreme to manage someone else's children.

I also agree. You can't get into Southpark without walking through a huge crowd of teen smoking, swearing ang goofing around. Can't blame the merchants for wanting this, these teens for the most part are not there to shop.
Where are the parents?

did you see patch8691 (political blogs) is already screaming racism? i didn't think it would take too long. has sharpton or jackson visited yet?

Its not racism and Sharpton and Jackson do not have to come here for this. It make sense to limit the amount of teens at the malls. Some stores in Cleveland have signs posting allowing one teenager at a time in their stores if they are unescorted by an adult.

I feel sorry that American teens do not have places to hang out safely without getting into trouble. Many schools has eliminated after school programs because parents and politicians have failed to come up with a better way to fund our public schools beside raising our property taxes.

I think this whole thing is ridiculous. My children never had time to just hang around. After school, and homework, dance and sports, and they all worked part time in high school... Who the heck had time to just hang around and get into trouble? When they went to the mall they went to spend the fruits of there labor. LOL

not surprising that the racism scream is already going on........just another bull**** excuse to pull the race card. why are these kids hanging at the mall rather than being at home, doing homework, at school doing sports or other extra cirricular activites? where are their parents?

I don't why some people think this is racism about the curfew for teens at Tower City. The mall was built in city with a large minority population catering to tourists and the suburbs with overpriced stores where most people can't buy anyway. If this work well in Cleveland other malls will have their curfews to limit teens from hanging in their malls.

the kids blew it for themselves. the kids. the racism starts when people forget about the kids and only remember the color. they are just kids being shooed away from private property because they are a nuisance

alot of agreeing but some just forget what is like being a kid. christmas is coming close and a kid needs a shop a gift for there parents/or who ever at the mall. with this ban in place what they seek can't be touch and the surpise of the gift will be ruin.

instead of the curflew re-hire police cops and send them over to the mall to deal with the troubled kids otherwise with this rule in please your punishing all good and bad kids.

mars you make a good point, but it would be impossible to separate the two (good vs bad) & that would only end up with some racism/discrimination crap anyway

mall owners are in business to make money. in a fiscal sense, this is probably more cost effective than hiring more security (which they probably will have to do anyway)

I love how some people project that Tower City will lose money because of this....Um, that's funny; I see a lot of teens hanging out at the malls, but (outside of Strongsville) I don't see ANYBODY buying much, unless it's lunch at the food court McDonalds.....and the last time I checked, loud groups of obnoxious teens drove the REAL spenders away...just ask Rolling Acres Mall's (Akron) management about that one.

I agree there is a problem with out of control kids at the mall, I've seen it on a few occasions at a certain Akron area mall. However, I think this story shows the stupidity of "zero-tolerance laws". The mall is trying a "one size fits all" cure to a problem. Let's ban all kids under 18. They say there are fights in the mall sometimes, now we'll just have fights outside the mall or elsewhere.

All I see is the mall putting a Band-Aid over a bullet wound. Instead of banning all kids, there should be the proper security and police ready to deal with shoplifters and any other incidents.

You must have missed the part of the rule that says "kids accompanied by an adult" Go ahead and go to Tower City with your family....but keep an eye on them. Good luck....With 10 kids I'm sure you'll need it.

YAY for the ban!

Its a great idea. Its private property so they can do what they like. The stores there pay big bucks for rent and the demand that their clients have unobstructed access to their establishment is not unreasonable at all.

I heard that it is 4 kids per adult and yes it is private property they can do what they want I agree but as long as children are with an adult and adult has control of the children/teenagers that should not be a problem. NO BAN !!!!

auntiejelly---unfortunately they can't force parents to do their jobs without the ban. That is why this is happening. Too many parents dont care and let their children run wild. They ruined it for everyone else...
If your a good parent you should have no problem with going with your kids to the mall. If your a parent that doesn't give a crap OR one of the trouble makers then, yeah, I see why you have a problem with it.

why is black on black now asking for a protest of the mall? why must someone always make rules that are put in place a racial thing?nothing that i read is targeting black teens, it is targeting TEENS period!it is organizations like this that keep racism alive.anytime that blacks may be affected, just as well as whites, it is made to be a racial thing.i'm sick of the racism that you create or keep going. this is about innocent customers being protcted from crime and the disrespect given to them by TEENS,period. if you happen to be one of the irresponsible parents that let your kids run wild at the mall, disrespect others, or steal from businesses, because you don't want them in your hair, then shame on you!it is a shame that innocent, respectfull teens are affected by you.if your kid is one of the unruly ones, it is because of YOU, not because he or she is black. respect and responsibility starts at home!
