You Kids Keep Your Ball Outta My Yard

The Good Ship Wahoo has certainly hit some rough water. It reminds me all too much of baseball summers when I was a kid. August would arrive and the team would be 15 or more games back. I would think up little goals for them, like beating the Yankees, or getting to .500, etc. I'm afraid that might be the pattern for this year. If you're a fan, then you stick with the team. If you boarded the ship in 1995, when the water was smooth, now is the time to put on that bright red life vest and hang on tight. I'm going to Canal Park tonight to watch Matt LaPorta. (I can't help it: Any old LaPorta in a storm)

You're right. Cheer them on. This season is far from over.

Well, I boarded the ship in 1972, and I have seen my share of rough water...so I will stick by them.
By the way, Matt LaPorta was on the 2005 Team USA baseball select team...some of his teammates on that team were Ian Kennedy, Kevin Gunderson, Max Scherzer, Matt Wieters to name a few. I did see him play against the Keene Swamp Bats on July 3, 2005. In that game he went 2-4 with 4RBI...his two hits were 2 home runs. He also had 2 strikeouts in that game as well. Ironically, that game was the first of my yearly trips to Keene on July 3rd to watch the Swamp Bats play.

Hey, tem 123. Maybe I'll check out the Swamp Bats someday. A team with that nickname has to be fun to watch. It's like the Frankfurt Hot Dogs high school team in Indiana.

Well, the Swamp Bats have won the New England Collegiate Baseball League two times (2000 & 2003) and they play at the high school. They usually have good teams every year, and the last three years the July 3rd game averages around 5,900...they have fireworks after the game.

Sounds like the Tribe is fitting in with the Brown's. The Brown's suck & now the Tribe.

I almost forgot about the Cavaliers & Gladiators. They are the only teams that seem to keep Cleveland going & on our feet. Their the only ones that seem to win & get us anywhere.

I try to maintain being positive, but it doesn't work with the sports. We do good then we fail. I'm a sports fanatic, but I've nearly lost all hope for Cleveland. Sorry, but we just have some sorry BLEEP looking teams. WHY, spend money of those teams when all their going to do is lose!!!!!!

The reason why we spend money on those teams is that we are fans!! I'm glad the Indians are promoting Randy Newsom to Buffalo. Maybe he will be a September callup.
Randy Newsom is a reliever that I seen pitch with Akron when they were in Portland. I was impressed with how he did in that game.

I have lived in Northeastern Ohio all my life and in Kent for the past 20 years. I follow all the Cleveland professional teams, but the Indians are definitely my favorite. On the college level, I root for Kent State(my alma mater), Purdue and Miami of Ohio. I have been retired from teaching since 2004 and my wife, Sue(another KSU grad) and the Shih-Tzu-in-Charge, Wickett, enjoy Ohio from April through December and then go somewhere warm for the winter. Note: The picture shows me in my 1948 Indians "World Champs" shirt. It doesn't fit anymore, so I need a new one in 2009.
