The Good Ship Wahoo has certainly hit some rough water. It reminds me all too much of baseball summers when I was a kid. August would arrive and the team would be 15 or more games back. I would think up little goals for them, like beating the Yankees, or getting to .500, etc. I'm afraid that might be the pattern for this year. If you're a fan, then you stick with the team. If you boarded the ship in 1995, when the water was smooth, now is the time to put on that bright red life vest and hang on tight. I'm going to Canal Park tonight to watch Matt LaPorta. (I can't help it: Any old LaPorta in a storm)

Should we give some consideration to batting Aaron Laffey fourth? He showed a nice swing in the game Wednesday night. Hey, if you can see some humor in this season, it helps to get through the depression.

In case the person who got the triple play ball from Monday's game hasn't thought of this already, let me give them a "push". Give the ball back. Asdrubal deserves to have it.

Since DeShawn Stevenson seems to talk much better than he plays basketball, I suspect that his NBA career may not be a long one. I have a suggestion for future employment. If another Woodstock movie is ever made, he could try out for the part of Richie Havens. Other aging hippies like myself will get that one right away. For the rest of you, do a web search and then you will see what I'm talking about. And by the way,
Go Cavs!!

Lots of preseason predictions had Detroit and Cleveland fighting it out in the Central Division. Who would have thought that in their first series, they would be fighting for last place. That's one of the things that keeps me interested in MLB. So many variables, so many ups and downs. Keep the faith Tribe fans, brighter days are ahead. (losing 10-1 in the fifth inning? ok, bring on the ups)
