Maybe America don't remeber when African Americans, Hispanics, and other minorities, no matter how smart or well educated they were could not work in their field. Could not go to College because the money wasn't there but was Valorvictorian of their class. This is why scholarships for minorities began and America needs to remember that. I feel that caucasians who think that scholarships for minorities isn't fair, need to remember back to when being anything other that caucasian wasn't fair. I understand how this back fired but some people are breaking the cardinal rule.... be quite and look ignorant instead of opening your mouth and letting the world know your ignorant.

In fact, I don’t remember those times. I was not around back then. Considering the small number of people over the age of 100, few remember anything from so long ago. Time has a way of moving on, even when we choose not to. I am not suggesting that we forget the past or pretend that it never happened. Many bad events occurred in the past and many more are yet to come. Even today, we are faced with unpleasant events which will change the way we live in the future. We must learn from the mistakes made by our ancestors and ourselves and not repeat them. This is after all a free country, and we are each free to be who and what we please…within limits. Some activities are limited by the laws of our land, we cannot cause harm in exercising our freedoms in other words. Other activities are a matter of ethics, and we will answer to God for how we choose to treat each other based on what is in our hearts. The underlying issue today is the prohibitive cost of higher education for everyone. We are told that college is necessary to get a job that will allow us to afford to survive. Then upon graduation, we are in more debt than we can afford to pay. Everyone going into college is searching for any scholarship available to help with the cost. I wish them all luck.

There should not be any double standards. If there are scholarships designated for one race then all races should be able to have the same rights. I am a white male and I am supporting my family on less than 25k a year. Obviously I can not afford to pay for school, I think scholarships should be set by need not by race. I do not feel I owe any certain "minority" group anything. I am not responsible for what happened many years ago, I reget that it happened but in no way should I be held responsible for it. I work hard for what I have and so should everyone else.

I am only 33 years old, however I was told by my grandmother and great grandmother how things used to be. I feel that if you work hard yes, you will accomplish your dream. Don't get upset or feel that it is unfair that caucasians do not have a scholarship for caucasians. Alot of African American groups have donated money to scholarships for African Americans to go to school. Speak up about this stand up and be heard. Do not say that it is unfair for minorities to have all these scholarships, when all you are doing is complaining.

Alita, I see what you're saying in your lat post. However, please bear in mind that our government no longer backs caucasians on anything these days, but rather, ensures that all minorities are given all rights, say and everything else as a priority and only listens to them. Unfortunately, white Americans have become the minority in the 21st Century with nothing being allowed to be said. We speak up about something and we're called racist - even by our own government. It is a no-win situation when you're butting heads with the U.S. government. Heaven forbid we say or do anything against THEIR standards or we pay the price.

Clevebtch, I know you don't really believe what you just wrote. The Government listens to no one and the way it seems now a days answers to no one either. I will also say MAYBE the caucasisn is the new african american, lets see if the discrimination lasts as long as what african americans went through. It is not what you say but how you say it. I spoke about the Kramer incident, to me it wasn't using the "N" word that made him racist. It was the fact that he discussed lynchings, that makes him a racist. The "N" word has no power in my life, it refers to no particular race. However talking about what happened in the past as if it was something to be proud of...makes him a racist. All that I am saying about the scholarship is this, leave no stone unturned when it comes to something anyone wants.

We say "White Power", what do you think of?
Racism
We say "Black Power", what do you think of?
Pride
Why can't I be white AND proud of my heritage without being considered a racist?!?!
Why can a black rapper use the N word, and sell millions of copies of CDs, yet some washed up white comedian has to appologize?
Why doesn't the rev,. Jessie Jackson get 50-Cent, P. Diddy, or the other rappers on his show?!?!
Double standards, that's why!!!
And that's why America's getting tired of special treatment being handed out!!!
BTW, from now on call me a "cracka", not a "cracker". And if you're not white, don't call me either one.....

I dont have a problem with whites setting up scholarships for caucasions because I personally believe that this is not a new thing, it was just never said that it was for whites only.

I have been in college for four years. No matter what race your are, (unless your trying to get schoolarships and depending on what type of scholarship) depends on your income. If you make $19,000.00 your only get so much in pell grants. I made over $20,000.00 one year and I recieved $487.00.....that paid for my books only. My tution was $1,800.00 because I am out of resisdent. They did not care that I was white, black or hispanic. Only if I qualified for grants or money. I am in $28,000.00 in student loans I have to pay back. I am not finished with school two more years and add another $24,000.00 to the amount I owe and I have to pay. So, coming up with this excuse of minorities.. My son is biracial, yet he is black because of his dad bieng black and I half Indian. My son would qualify for being african american and Indian. There are a lot of people of different races who are smart, yet have no income to go to school and I think it is great that they have this for the kids who really want to do something with their lives. This is my money I have to pay back and I will do good, because this is my education. I am all for different races and great that we as americans have that right to scholarships and money that can send us to college. what is the real issue here?////?????

My issue is this, stop complaining and leave no stone unturned. I do not use race nor minority as an excuse that was in response to someone elses blog that had gotten aired. Just keep in mind that there is a reason that scholarships and even race quotas were started. I got thru school with a diabetes scholarship and later went back under a transplant scholarship. So that is my issue, if you are caucasion and want a scholarship leave no stone unturned!

I recently had a double organ transplant. I used to work for an insurance company. I enjoy crocheting and making baby clothes, and cooking is another one of my favorite past times.
