I was a smoker and I understand the cost of insurance. I recently had a double organ transplant that cost quite a bit of money, however insurance covered it. What are their intentions for a person with diabetes or epilepsy. The cost of covering them is expensive as well. If they aren't careful they could end up with a major law suite.

There are a lot of health issues that cause insurance up but it always seems to blamed on smoking which i tend to disagree with! But i also agree that if they continue with their policies they are going to end up with a law suit! Someone that smokes shouldn't be denied the right to a job with ANY company as long as they have the qualifications!

I agree. Hiring should be based on skills and qualifications. Not what you do off of company time.

A lot of smokers use cigarettes as a stress relief. When they can't get a job due to smoking all it is going to do is make them smoke more because they can't get a job.

Last time I checked smoking is a legal activity. As long as they are doing legal activities a job shouldn't have a reason not to hire you or use it to fire you.

I personally wish people would focus more on helping smokers to quit than try to ban it everywhere. All you really are doing it is causing them stress which causes them to smoke more. They spend so much time and money trying to convince people it is bad well people know it is bad. Why don't you use that time and money to come up with effective strategies to help them quit.

I agree with both of you. As I stated before I WAS a smoker and the only reason I quit is because of my transplant. Next they will try to fire full figured people. It is a legal habit and a persons right to chose what bad habits they want to pick up. If America is not careful we may end up like old Russia.

I recently had a double organ transplant. I used to work for an insurance company. I enjoy crocheting and making baby clothes, and cooking is another one of my favorite past times.
